02-7-2008 - BACK OFF!!! exhaustedMy mood while writing this blog:
exhausted

It's almost that time for Micah to back off the boob. I started weaning him away a little bit yesterday...supplementing feedings with formula so that he can get use to the different taste. I love the bond that I developed nursing all of my children, but it is really time consuming. I use the pump as well to make bottles so hubby can feed him, and that sometimes take 30-45 minutes to do. Breastmilk is sweet and taste much better than formula, so some days he makes the ugliest, turned up face when I give formula to him and refuses to drink it, but he is getting better. I am going to stop when he reaches 4 months old next month in August. He will be starting to eat cereal and fruit then, so that is actually a good time for me. I am producing enough milk...he is still only drinking 3-4 ounces and 5 ounces for his 4am feeding. Maybe once I stop breastfeeding he will sleep all the way through the night. I am also clearing out my den to transform it into his room, and getting ready to paint. Time to get in your own bed, boy! There are many nights lately that he has been hating on me and hubby trying to get busy since he sleeps in the room with us...lol

Plus God has me pretty busy these days. I have my website business, I am part of the Women's Minstry at church, I am President of the Marketing Committee at church, church website, I do Pilates in the mornings 3 days a week, I am starting another class to complete my degree in the fall....ah you get the point! It is getting really hard trying to fit the demands of nursing in all this! And usually after I nurse I am exhausted! It really takes your energy. So I say to Micah, back off buddy! Your boobs days are coming to an end!!!

That why Mr. Man has his eyebrow all raised...he knows you're up to something! J/k. I totally understand how you feel with the timing thing. I'm going to try to b/f as long as I can keep up, but when it comes time to return to work we will just have to play that one by ear.
Your blog is way too funny. Made me laugh.

Have you tried using Good Start formula that is sort of sweet and good for transitioning from breast to formula. You should try it. I used it on all 4 of my kids. My first I did not use it because I did not know about it but it is great for their tummy's and easy to digest. It is also made by Carnation. I hope this helps.
