| 05-6-2009 - Update... | My mood while writing this blog:Still sore.... |
So as mentioned in my last blog, I went to the hospital this morning cause of pain in my urethra and some mild cramping. On my way to the hospital, I started getting back pain on my right side. This kinda freaked me out considering I had heard this was a sign of preterm labour. By the time I got to the hospital the back pain had intensified. At the hospital they collected a urine sample and noticed some blood in it. They thought I could possibly had a UTI, I didint mention the back pain as I didint think it was all that bad....maybe a 3 out of 10 on the pain scale. They checked Sydneys vitals as well as my own and all seemed fine. I was having mild contractions but nothing to be concerned about as they were quite mild (only registered as a 23 on the monitor) and they were very irregular. Within an hour of being there, the back pain became unbearable! I was practically in tears and seriously thought I was going to have the baby. I had this intense urge to push and it seemed to be the only thing that relieved my discomfort. I mentioned it to the doctor and they realised that I might have kidney stones, I was given some morphine and sent for a kidney ultrasound. Turns out I indeed have kidneys stones in my right kidney as well as in my bladder. The doctor gave me 2 choices, 1- I could go ahead and be admitted or 2- I could be sent home with a prescription for morphine and I would have to monitor my temp every 2-3 hours and report back to the hospital for admission if it reached 99.8 or higher or if the morphine was not relieving my pain. I opted for choice #2. Ive been home for about an hour or so now, the morphine I received at the hospital should have worn off by now although Im still feeling ok. The doctor told me that I would likely be admitted to the hospital at some point because of all of this, especially considering at home pain management tends to be difficult with stones. He told me I might be stuck taking pain medication until or after Sydney is born which puts her at risk for drug withdrawals....Im pretty worried about all of this....I just want everything to be ok with her, the doctor reassured me that there shouldnt be any problems with the baby, but I still cant help but worry....And now because of the stones I am apparently at higher risk for pre-term labour which uber sucks! Im keeping my fingers crossed all works out, today has been the day from hell!
