17-7-2009 - Possible induction

My appointment for the ultrasound to confirm wether or not I have vasa previa was bumped up to this morning (as opposed to july 22nd) because it was an obvious priority considering Im closing in on 38 weeks. All went relatively well and turns out that I do not have vasa previa, what the technologist saw was amniotic fluid flow that mimicked blood flow. It was such a relief to find out that I dont have vasa previa because well it has a poor prognosis if I were to go into spontaneous labor (which at this point could happen any time) and I would have ultimately been scheduled for an elective cesarean ASAP. The ultrasound wasent all good though, the technologist noticed that Sydney is small for her gestational age.....she weighs in at approx 5lbs11oz putting her in the 10th percentile as far as growth is concerned. The technologist told me to wait around for the report and bring it next door to my Dr. and have him see me right away to discuss the problem (I initially wasent supposed to see him till next wednesday) I went next door with the report in hand and my Dr. said that he wanted me to go in for observation at the high risk unit at the hospital Im supposed to deliver at and when I see him next wednesday we will discuss having me induced because it appears as if Sydney might be growth restricted. As of now, Im waiting for the Dr's office to call me with my appointment for the high risk unit observation thingy (my Dr. requested that it be early next week, like before my app with him.) And from there Ill have to wait till wednesday to see when I will be scheduled for an induction (At this point Im lmost positive I will be induced what with the kidney stones and the growth restriction) Im assuming it will be either late next week or early the following week which will put me at between 38.5 and 39 weeks......Anyways thats the gist of what happened with me today.....For now Im keeping my fingers crossed that all is well with Sydney, it seems as if I traded in one significant problem for a less serious one, although I wish there were no problems at all regardless of how insignificant they may be... Wish me luck, and Ill keep you all posted.
