24-3-2009 - No strecth marks yet BUT...

My mood while writing this blog:
ITCHY

My belly itches like crazy everyday !!! everytime it itches i dont itch it cuz i heard thats what gives you strecthies i just run to the bathroom and put palmers coco butter lotion on i got it from the pregnancy store says it helps to prevent and reduce strechies right now im like a junkie on the stuff lol i use it like 3- 4 times a day ...better safe than sorry uggghhh i hate the itchy feelin i just lather the lotion on there till the itching goes away i hope that i dont end up getting strecthies they say they are genetic and my big sissy didnt have any till her very last week and only got a few so i wont be mad if i that happens but i dont want them now well so far so good lets hope it stays that way

personally i think they whole genetic thing is a crock! my mother who had 3 kids and grandmother had five kids both didnt get stretch marks and i did with my first but no sign of new ones with my secind or as of now with my third and my sister did as well! and coco butter aint gonna help neither it just stops the itching for the time being!! My dermatologist told me you cant prevent them but there are ways to prevent from making them worse when you are pregnant.

cocoa butter was the best thing ever until I stopped using it and got stretch marks. Don't stop using it! Maybe try scratching over your shirt?

I didn't put any lotion on and I didn't get stretch marks till after I gave birth! Go figure!

UGH! Must be nice, I already have 3 strethmarks!! But I knew I was going to get them cause it runs in my family, even I already got some myself from when I was 14 and went through a growing spurt. So bascially I am screwed! lol

Definitely DO NOT itch, you're doing good so far. I read a report from several Dermatologists about stretch marks and they all said that they are genetic and basically if you're going to get them, they will come regardless of what cream you're using and if you don't get them, then you just don't. It's a 50/50 thing I guess you could say. They also stated that those creams really don't prevent stretch marks because the creams don't penetrate deep enough into the the part of the skin layer that the stretch marks come from. They basically just relieve the itching and can help make the skin a bit more hydrated when stretching. I thought that information was good to know! My mother never got any stretch marks, instead she got a "forever pooch" as we call it lol. I, on the other hand, got stretch marks in the last weeks (due to my father's side - they're prone to them), but never got the pooch after I lost all the weight. Weird how everything works during pregnancy and after! Good luck with everything and if you're family isn't really prone to them, you will hopefully not get them!

ooo dont itch girl! that deffo gives u the stretchies, jus rub dat lotion in , trust me i use this one brand ov lotion hav been since day one made from the water in the swiss alps i love it, i swear by it im a lotion junkie too lol !!! hope everythings aiite wit u lately xXx

unfortuatnyl lotion does NOTHING. just soothes the itching. you are either doomed for stretch marks or not. it can be inherited. :( so just try enjoyin your pregnancy without worrying bout stretchmarks. i still put mine on everynight but i hear they sometimes show up after birth.

I DIDNT GET ANY UNTIL AFTER I HAD HER. I ONLY GOT AFEW TINY TINY ONES ON MY BELLY BUTTON, BUT SHE IS 4 WEEKS OLD AND THEY HAVE ALREADY ALMOST DISAPPEARED COMPLETELY!!!!! I USE BIO OIL! STRETCH MARKS ARE SCARS SO IF YOU HEAL GOOD FROM SCARS YOU WILL HEAL GOOD FROM STRETCH MARKS!!!:)

Sorry to tell you but I used Cocoa butter religiously and I still got a little bit of stretchies. But they are not bad at all, and they are only on the very bottom of my belly. So who knows, maybe it did work. I went through that itchiness too though and it was making me insane!!!! Your better than me, I scratched and scratched, haha. I couldn't resist!!
