| 25-5-2011 - Insane in the membrane! | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
Tuesday - ouch, think I am getting a headache! Oh well, don't dwell on it, push on. Too much to do this week not enough time!
Wednesday - damn, definitely have a headache, ouch, it's pretty bad. Oh well, don't dwell on it, push on. Too much to do this week not enough time!
Thursday - Hello, was I hit by a bus last night? My head is throbbing! Not today of all days (my aunts funeral). Oh well, don't dwell on it, push on. Too much to do this week not enough time!
Friday - Fark'n Geezus, my head is killing me! Is someone shining a light in my eyes? Why is everyone shouting at me? Oh dear! Oh well, don't dwell on it, push on....... WAIT, scrap that, this is bad Lains, you need to get help now!
And now, I am in the emergency room at the hospital! Lights out, its dark and I am trying to get as much sleep as possible. Nurses and doctors come and go, ask the usual questions:-
To which my responses are: It's a ten, yes and NO !!!
They try to hook me up to a bag of fluid, but it appears I am so dehydrated my veins keep "running away". They inserted 6, yes, 6 IV needles which all failed, then finally, lucky number 7! Ahhh, I am hooked up to fluids!
Time to sleep, ni ni!
An hour later, DH is finally with me and the fluid has finished. The Dr comes in and asks,
Again I answer: It's a ten, yes and NO !!!
Ok, fluid bag # 2 ... Then the cycle continues, sleep, answer questions. Fluid bag number 3 (In 4 hours) Still NO change!
Drs are now getting concerned, they said that no matter what is causing the migraine the fluid and pain meds should have at least taken the edge off but the fact I'm still registering a pain of 10 they want to do further investigations.
At this point I'd like to explain how lovely they've all been. The use a torch in the room so as not to turn on the lights and hurt my eyes, and they're all whispering so as I don't feel like my skull is caving in when they talk.
Anyway, after much discussions around any possible affect on the baby (Of which there is none) I go in and have a CT Scan ... it's now 7.30pm.
Thank the lord there was nothing sinister on the scan! This confirms their original diagnoses of a severe migraine made worse from severe dehydration!
What is most important to also point out is that I have now been in hospital for approx 10 hours and on the hour, every hour, they have monitored my little bean, including the heart beat, and all is perfect!
At this stage due to the migraine, I haven't eaten since dinner on Wednesday night and I have been throwing up the whole time while in hospital. DH has been home and back again to get my PJs and bless him, a book for me to read - apparently failing to realise the only comfort I get is from being in a pitch black room with my eyes closed.
It's 9pm now and I am fast asleep, hooked up to another fluid bag and I sleep ....... all the way until 9am the next morning (Saturday) when the nurse wakes me for my obs. Apparently they came in on the hour every hour to do my obs, but I never once woke up! LOL!
I am sent home with an arm full of pain medication and strict bed rest for the remainder of the weekend.
And I can tell you this, with the exception of waking up to wee and force dry toast down my gob, I slept from the moment I got home from hospital Saturday morning until about 10am Monday! All in all, including my stay in hospital, I almost slept for 3 days straight!
But it did me a world of good! It is now Wednesday and I am happy to report my headache is completely gone! WOOT WOOT! Party Time!
In the mean time, other ailments I have suffered this week include:-
And ya know what ladies, I wouldn't change a god damn thing! My special delivery at the end of it all is going to make this all worthwhile!
And I can tell you from now on, every new stretch mark I find on myself I am calling me "pregnancy service stripes". I will be well decorated with such honor by the end of it! LOL!
"If nature had arranged that husbands and wives should have children alternately, there would never be more than three in a family."
Take care ya'll!
