12-12-2008 - extreme CTS update

So.... I talked to a Homeopath who suggested a few things, and then ran over to a GREAT homeo-pharmacy called Hoopers 15 min. from where I live. I was thrilled to meet their "on-staff" Naturopath and Reg'd Nutritionist. After much debate over a few products.....I left there with a B6 complex, rhus toxicodendron 6ch, Dr. Reckeweg R30 Universal Ointment, and a free tube of Traumeel. I wasn't broke after that either! The ointment felt great, and I put it on 3 or 4 times esp. 1x before bed....I started the B6 and Rhus.

Fingers crossed, wrists splinted, I went to bed.....at 4am my right hand woke me up....but not terribly...I put more ointment on, loosened the splint and went back to bed. At 630 am my left hand woke me up....ointment didn't entirely fix, but only numb, not pain. I propped myself up higher in bed and managed to sleep reasonably well til my alarm went off at 8am. Woo!!! Today, I am also trying pressure socks...to reduce the amt. of swelling accumulating in my ankles....maybe that will help me to get rid of the extra fluids. I have HOPE!! (and a chiropractic appt. today)

Ps.. Rhus Toxicodendron: Homeopaths prescribe Rhus tox. for a number of complaints including poison ivy, chicken pox, back pain, colds, herpes, hives, flu, mumps, measles, sore throat, nerve pain, muscle strains and sprains, dermatitis, arthritis, bursitis, carpal tunnel, rheumatism, and fevers. Ailments arise from overexertion, a change in weather, cold/damp weather, or from getting wet or chilled.

Rhus tox. is one of the best remedies indicated in chronic or acute rheumatic or arthritic conditions. Sharp, aching pains are present in the bones. The joints are stiff and lame and the muscles, ligaments, and tendons feel sore and bruised. The pains are worse with movement, but are eased with gentle exercise. In acute arthritis, the joints are smooth and shiny with little redness. There is numbness or tingling in the affected part. In chronic arthritis conditions there is less swelling, but much stiffness of the joints. The pains may cause the patient to get up at night, causing sleeplessness. The symptoms are worse during damp weather, during fever, at night, or while chilled; continued movement and warmth makes them better.

The ointment also contains Rhus, Arnica, Calendula and another ingredient highly recommended : "Hypericum"
