05-2-2009 - Immunizations OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS STRICTLY BASED UPON MY PERSONAL OPINION AND WHAT MY DOCTOR RECOMMENDS. EVERY DOCTOR IS DIFFERENT AS IS EVERY CHILD.

What MY Doctor gives"

At Birth – Hep B

1 Month – Hep B

2 Months – Pentacel, Prevnar, Rotateq

4 Months - Pentacel, Prevnar, Rotateq

6 Months - Pentacel, Prevnar, Rotateq

9 Months - Hep B

12 Months – Prevnar, Hepatitis A, Chicken Pox

15 Months – MMR

18 Months – Pentacel, Hepatitis A

5 Years MMR, DTAP, Polio, Chicken Pox

What I prefer to give: I give everything at its scheduled times except these, I like to spread them out a little more than the dr does. I would like to spread them by about 1 month but if I did that then it would still overlap because there are 3 so I spread them by 2 weeks. In 2 weeks time a child will have any kind of reaction to the shot. There are also some combination vaccines available which i am personally fine with but you do have the option to get them separated out

Rotateq

2 Months

4 Months

6 Months

18 Months

Prevnar

2 ½ Months

4 ½ Months

6 ½ Months

12 1/2 Months

Pentacel

3 Months

5 Months

7 Months

I think it's great that you're getting the immunizations regardless of the schedule. =)

Thank you for posting your vaccine schedule. I need to make one up for myself...I do not plan on administering more than one vaccine per visit either. I do have a question. What are the Pentacel, Prevnar, Rotateq comprised of? The Rotaq I assume is rotavirus, but what are the other two for?

I did Arsene's Hep B at birth. the next one is in two months time. I figured if he's gonna go to school and childcare, he will be exposed to Hep B and I just want to protect him

I'm curious if you did the Hep B shot? I didn't for Joel at birth and am debating if I'll ever give it to him.
