Write a new blog

My mood while writing this blog: tired |
Just wanted to give everyone an update. I just made it home from the
hospital and baby is still in the oven, but it was a close one. As
most of you know I am 33 weeks (and 3 days today). While I was doing
my NST yesterday I went into labor - talk about some excitement. I
made it to the hospital by 12:30pm and they rushed me in for a
biophysical ultrasound. The ultrasound showed the fluid levels had
dropped - to a dangerous level of 3. After the ultrasound I received
betamethasone to strengthen the baby's lungs, 3 consecutive doses of
terbutaline and a bolis of magnesium, not to mention the flood of IV
solution - 5 bags in 5 hours. Luckily they stopped my labor after the
rush of magnesium and fluids, but then they dropped the levels and kept
me on a steady stream of the magnesium and fluids until 10am this
morning. Around 2am this morning I was only suffering from mild
contractions and by 12:15pm I had my last contraction of the day.
Whoopee - contraction free for 6 hours. I will admit - I never want to
experience the magnesium sensation again. If you have never had it -
imagine your entire body feeling like it is on fire from the inside out
and nothing seems to help. I had 2 nurses giving me ice baths every
hour from 2pm yesterday until 6am this morning and was still burning up.
I
wasn't dehydrated, but they think I may have a small hole in my
membrane, possibly from the car accident a couple of weeks ago. So I
am also doing antibiotics until delivery. During the ultrasound they
made me have today to see how my fluids were, the fluids looked much
better at a 12 - enough that we stopped the magnesium but kept me on
the fluids until I could go 4 hours contraction free. Also, we found
out she is 4 lbs. 8 oz., they showed me the baby doing her practice
breathing - - it was so amazing to see her getting ready to make her
appearance!!
They
have let me come home tonight (because I begged and my baby shower is
tomorrow) under the strict conditions that if I start having
contractions or leaking fluid I have to go back to L&D immediately,
but this time they will take out the stitch and let nature take it's
course. If I have a good weekend without going back to L&D, I have
to see my doc
on Monday or Tuesday and another ultrasound
on Tuesday or Wednesday. They want to try to wait until 35 weeks to remove the stitch - which will be
November 18th. So my day is getting closer and closer.

Saturday, 8 Nov Man, you've had a rough time! Thank goodness you've made it this far with her and that they feel so confident about letting her arrive if need be. You've done a great job keeping sane during it all. Hang in there... not much longer! Hugs!
