My mood while writing this blog: thoughtful |
I wanted to share a little about Leah at age 1. I also wanted to write this as a little snapshot of where she is right now. As you know, they grow up way too fast. I'd love to hear about your little ones too!
Favorite foods-
bread- any kind, Hawaiian pizza,
string cheese or cheddar,
banana, yogurt, macaroni and cheese, graham crackers
Favorite toys- light up music box that plays classical music
baby doll that has a binky like hers
our cat's toy mice ( yuck- I know!)
Favorite things to do: Go out on errands with Mommy. She likes to ride in her car and go shopping and other places.
"Help" daddy in the garage (okay- her carries her while he dinks around or lets her play in his boat while he's getting it ready to go. He can't wait to take her out fishing like the boys.)
Crawl around or sit in her little pink car while Mom and Dad work in the yard
Unload drawers, baskets, toy boxes, book shelves, etc
Play with any adult item that has buttons that she can push- remotes, phones, laptop, etc.
Take a bath
Pull wipes/tissues out of the container, unroll toilet paper
Least favorite things to do:
Have her nails trimmed
Take a nap
Words she uses-
"Mama", "Dada," "doggie", "no no no no", "all done",
Alec- "Aaaaaaa ee" She draws it out because that's what we do when we are calling to him
"A-nunna" when she wants food. I think this comes from me saying "Another bite?" when I feed her, "Ditdi"- Gypsy/Kitty
I think she's working on saying "diaper, night night, all clean" she has tried imitating these words but doesn't really use them in context yet.
Motor skills- Leah loves to climb and has mastered the stairs. They are gated but we let her climb them when we go up right behind her. She also tries to climb on step stools and can get off the couch on her own. She is cruising and will walk holding our fingers but is too cautious to let go yet. Sometimes she takes off walking and I can tell she is not using me for support but needs that reassurance. She also stands at her toy box playing with toys in both hands, but if you try to get her to stand alone she gets scared and sits right down.
Fears-
Loud noises- sometimes if it's quiet in the house and the phone rings, it startles her and she kind of panics. She also doesn't like the vacuum cleaner or the buzzer on the dryer. She doesn't like it when we sneeze loud either. She is working on overcoming her fear of garbage trucks:) We went out on the porch to look at it today. She actually waved at it as it drove away.
Some men- even men she kind of knows freak her out like her grandpa and my husband's best friend. Others she doesn't have a problem with. She is a big daddy's girl though and loves her big brothers ages 9 and 18.
Other milestones:She has two bottom teeth but eats most everything that is otherwise baby/toddler appropriate.
She is very socially active and loves to interact with others on her terms. She'll smile and wave at other people trying to get their attention but acts shy if they approach her first.
She's starting to color but prefers to chew on crayons.

Sunday, 20 Sep I like this blog a lot. I hadn't read it before now. Funny how different boys and girls are. Matthew's would be "likes loud noises and thinks loud sneezes are funny... not scared of anything, haha". She sounds like a fun little girl!
