My mood while writing this blog: Relieved |
First off..what the heck is with this site??I deleted a few old pics the other day and it erased my whole profile! I can't even re-add the info. Luckily it spared my blogs, but this is nuts!!
So yesterday was my NT scan. First time I ever had one. Of course I was losing my grip when the u/s first started because the baby was completely still and motionless. Instant flashbacks of last April ran through my mind. I just kept telling myself this couldnt happen again. She was able to get baby to move finally, actually I think she pissed the baby off because when she pushed on my belly, the baby would swing violently like it wanted to make contact with her head, lol.
The measurement was 1.5. Anything over 3.5 is cause for concern, so no worries there. Plus I asked if she could see a nasal bone just for peace of mind, lol. Yep, baby came equipped with one of those too, lol. Baby is also measuring 4 days bigger than due date but otherwise looks healthy and fine♥ Now I am just waiting on my blood results.
So then after what seemed like forever of her looking at and for what I have no clue, she asks if we were going to find out the gender. I asked if she could even tell this early? She said yes. Now....I have always been leary of any gender guesses before 16 weeks. I was 11w5d yesterday. Seems entirely too early to even see gender accurately. She said she saw a protrusion sticking out, and she was guessing a BOY. I asked her the heart rate and she said 171. So I told her that is of a girl:-) She shrugged her shoulders and said "psssht, that means nothing."
I have 5 girls though, and they ALL had heart rates over 150, always. I even guessed my friends and cousin's baby girls accurately. I am taking her carnival guess with a grain of salt for now and see what we have at my 20 week scan, lol. Andy however is over the moon, so I took great pleasure in shooting him down, reminding him she is wrong, its too early, inaccurate and she is a SHE♥
I asked a question earlier today on this site about it. I am curious to know if anyone else found out gender at the NT scan and if it was correct? Because according to this very informative site, it exactly why I have my doubts about gender before 16 weeks,lol...http://baby2see.com/gender/external_genitals.html.

23.5 hours ago Aw, I'm so glad it all went well. Too funny about baby not being pleased with the scan. I've heard that they don't like the u/s (that the sound level for them is commensurate with a subway train coming into the station). My baby loves to poke back if you poke my belly. It's DH's favorite game. I told baby to get used to it - this is what Daddy's do - annoy their kids (and their wives) ;) Tee hee... Not sure about sex determination that early, but it will be really fun to find out if they're right! Hooray for a healthy scan :) beegee -

Sunday, 12 Feb My little girl's heart rate has been all over the place so I could have never guessed by that. #1 had a fairly low heart rate and she was still a girl! So, I guess you could say I am not a *firm* believer in the heart rate theory. As far as NT gender guesses.. I wouldn't bank on it but all the girls I know who were told boy around 11-12 weeks are having boys. Apparently it's much easier to tell a boy earlier on than a girl, especially for skilled techs. No idea how skilled yours is though! A boy would be fun for you guys after 5 girls though, right!? I will be interested to see how this turns out!! You are moving right along! :D jjrhodes -
Friday, 10 Feb I know the feeling. I am SOOOO nervous about next Monday. We will find out what we are having but I'm nervous that something could possibly be wrong with baby. Just a fear from my history :( I had my NT scan at 13 weeks and they said they wouldn't tell me a sure answer till 18 weeks which is next week for me :) Good luck! older1sttimemom2be -
Thursday, 9 Feb Yay! I'm so happy for you! Isn't it the best feeling when you get good news after everything we've been through? I wouldn't trust the ultrasound until you can get a 4D one and they can look between the legs. I know so many people who were told one sex ( usually told boy) and it came out the opposite! That is really early to tell. Don't buy pink or blue just yet :) xx ttc6thbaby -
Thursday, 9 Feb i found out bubee was a boy at 14 weeks, and i seen his junk 100% no if ands or buts! lol. oh and ALLLLL of my kids had high heart rates except my daughter, whos never got over 140. :) A2D -
Thursday, 9 Feb OOOO SO EXCITING! Well, I asked my midwife about the heart beat rate, and she said it is an old wife's tale. I guess time will tell... Keeps us on our toes :o) pinkmama -
Wednesday, 8 Feb i had a scan at 13 weeks and they told me boy too.. but everything i have read says it was way too early to tell unless a higher grade u/s machine was used.. like a level 2 or 3-d. we'll find out for sure on the 22nd and i'll let you know!!!! great news about the tests xoxo damnkat -
Wednesday, 8 Feb Yay, awesome news! I wouldn't trust a gender guess at that early stage either. The genitals haven't even formed properly yet. Wait until your 20 week scan, where it will be a much more educated guess at the gender. I never really believe what they say 100% until the baby is in my arms and I can see it for myself lol! alicia-n-baby -
Wednesday, 8 Feb That is great news!!!! two of my friends have found out they were having boys at 12 weeks too!!! And both came out boys!! :) I think a boy is easier to tell. You could very well be having a boy!! :) kimkayb -
Wednesday, 8 Feb So glad everything is going great for you!!! Yeah, this site is for the birds I tell ya. I get discouraged real quick by crap that goes on! Haha, well I know it's early, and yes the heart rate does tell something most of the time, but I'm pulling for Andy here. Wouldn't a boy be wonderful??? I don't think you'd know what to do. haha XOXOXO
