| 15-1-2009 - ER visit and some updates | My mood while writing this blog:OK |
On Monday (1/12) I had to go to the ER. While sitting at work I suddenly felt a tight feeling in my chest, and had shortness of breath. I called my OB and was told to go straight to the ER. After about 4 hours and many tests later, they still didn't know what was wrong. My EKG was perfect, oxygen level was perfect, and the pain was gone. I did have pain below my right breast for about 2 weeks though, so they tested me for gallstones and that came back perfect. My only other option was a x-ray of my chest. I chose not to do it because of the potential risks to Kaydence. I left the hospital with prescriptions for some pain medicine, antibiotic for a UTI they found, and some Pepsid because they think my acid reflux has come back from when I was a child. I was also ordered to stay home for 2 days and rest.
One good thing is that I got an ultrasound and saw my baby again! :) Her heartrate was at 160 (which is the highest it's ever been), and she was just swimming around like nothing was happening. It's good to know she wasn't affected.
While walking to my car though, the tightness and shortness of breath came back. I didn't go back though because I didn't want to do the x-ray. I just picked up my prescriptions, went home, and got some rest.
Yesterday I went to a follow-up appt with my doctor. My poor doctor wasn't even aware that I had been to the ER. He wasn't on call that night, and his associate never wrote down the information in my file. So, I caught my doctor up and he determined that one of 4 things could have happened. 1. I was having an anxiety attack. 2. I was having an asthma attack (although I haven't had one since I was 15). 3. I was having the typical skeletal/muscular pain that pregnant women have (although I don't understand how this explains shortness of breath). 4. Kaydence/my uterus were laying on my diaphragm. So, now I'm back to using an inhaler. The other 3 things can't be tested for so there's no way to know if that's what happened or not.
My blood pressure yesterday was 130/68 which is very high for me! The highest it's ever been while pregnant was 112/70. I have been really stressed so I'm starting to wonder if it was an anxiety attack (I've never had one so I'm not sure what it feels like). I think my increased blood pressure may have caused an increased heartrate in Kaydence, but I'm not a doctor so I could be wrong. My doctor said it's fine as long as I don't hit 140/-, but I'm still concerned.
My new focus now is relaxing. I need to calm down so I don't stress Kaydence and for the sake of my sanity. It's time for me to cut some people out of my life that are just bringing me down. Wish me luck ladies!
By the way, my weight yesterday was 131 lbs, so I'm now 3 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight.
