| 12-5-2008 - 40 weeks 2 days, didn't think I'd see it | My mood while writing this blog:ok |
Ok, so, my due date has come and gone. I spent a lot of yesterday feeling po'd because of discomfort and disappointment. But you know...discomfort and disappointment are every also a part of life, as much as joy and pleasure are. I want to live in today, and not miss a moment of my life projecting into tomorrow. Every day that passes means I am one day closer to holding my baby. Every day that comes is another day that brings the opportunity to give my Emily all of my undivided attention.
I have a nst tomorrow and a doctor check-up. We've never had any discussions about "what if" I go past my due date as it was not expected. I'm thinking they won't want me to go too much over it, since I'll be 42 this month. I've been reading about bishop scores and such and believe mine is pretty high, so there's no reason to believe that if I do need to be induced that mine will be the induction from hell. I've already called the office to find out which doc is on. I'm glad the two docs who are on do not include Dr. C (you can use your imagination to decide what the C stands for). So perhaps tomorrow I will know more about the practice's policy on old mamas like me.
In the meantime, at this point, I almost can no longer imagine labor starting on it's own. Every time I thought this could be "it", it wasn't. Sex, Evening Primrose, walking, spicy food, chinese food pig-out--none of it's working. So I am resigning myself to waiting, and to being open to a teeeeeny amount of induction methods, maybe...if the docs advise it. I'm also trying to stay away from reading weeks 39 & 40 here...and 41...not much left there but people who are po'd like me, and tons of birth announcements. I will NOT post a birth announcement in the weeks forums, I know they only make those of us who feel left behind think, "what about me??????" : (
I never had a belly shot beyond 37 weeks before, not with this baby girl nor with Emily...so here for the history books...40 week belly:
