Today as i waited for the resluts of emma test for sleep apnea and acid reflux . i prayed and i prayed that she didnt have any of that and that i could just take her home today . But today i called and got the news that i didnt want to hear emma has periodic apnea she has to be sent home with a monitor and zantack for the acid reflux i am so scared i dont want to lose my baby girl . I love her so much i dont know how i would ever live with out her if something should go wrong . As i grow through all this i try my heardest to my faith alive and that everything will be o.k . She comes home today after 9 days i am very happy to fainly have my baby girl with me . please if any of you have experianced this with any of your babies please give me some advice . .

Hang in there!! All the things you are describing are VERY common with a preemie, not that it makes it any easier!!! Just have faith and keep praying........

it sounds scary yes but I have to have all my kids on an apena monitor and its not bad you get more false alarms than anything really, I am sure she will be fine hun. it is to protect her and trust me that alarm will let you know

Heyy Hun! I totally understand how scarey it is. Trent had apnea spells too - he was on caffine in the nicu and actually came home on it. We had an angel care monitor that would go off if he stopped breathing or wiggled off the monitor pad... it's scary, but the monitor gives you good peace of mind! Some of the nurses actually told us that apnea in newborns is probably way more frequent than any of us really know... it's only because we have nicu babies hooked up to machines that we notice it in them more - if all regular babies were monitored I'm sure if would show them having spells too. Most babies will grow out of it - same with the reflux. We raised the head of Trents basinett when he came home (I just put a couple of books under the legs on one end). And we made sure that he was kept upright for at least 30 minutes after he ate - that's when it was worse. I'm sure Emma will come through this just fine, have faith, you have a strong little princess!! Sending you lots of love!! ~Tina xo

My cousin's little boy was born at 34 weeks and spent 3 weeks in NICU. He had the same thing and was sent home with a monitor. The monitor is loud and will wake you if she stops breating even for a sec. She will be fine hun. By next week she probably will not have the apnea.

I was born 6 weeks early, collapsed lung and all. I was in the NICU for almost a month and when I came home, I came home with a monitor. That was 22 yrs ago, so I know the technology they use now is A LOT better than then. But I wouldn't worry - and I know how impossible that is going to be to try. But really, you don't want to stress yourself out. Remember, babies can tell when you're stressed, scared, etc. And then that will set her off. The monitor is there as a precaution. I'm sure she will grow out of it in time - just give her a little time to get bigger and stronger. I'll keep you and her in my prayers.xox

my cousin was born 3 months early and was sent home with a monitor for sleep apnea...it will alarm and wake you up and usually it will wake the baby up enough to have her start breathing again. acid reflux is common in premies and is just a pain. im sure you will make it thru, although there will be a lot of sleepless nights! but for added encouragement ill just tell you if she wasnt otherwise healthy, there is no way they would let you take her home. if all you have to worry about it the monitor, your doing good! congrats on having your girl home
