emma is now 2 weeks old i have been pumping since she has been been in the hospatil but i am trying to do both now that she is home bottle and breast but she is having a hard time latching on and staying on . so i need your advice on what i can do with her that may work .. toke emma to the doctor on friday she is doing good and has had a few apnea epsiodes but other then that all has been good . having a hard time getting her on my medical card but hopeing that i will get in contact with my worker soon . thats all i have to update for now . you ladies have a great night and thanks for your . understanding

I had major problems getting max to latch on--he was 3 weeks early--that might be emma's problem also. We have a family friend that owns a breastfeeding store and she's a lactation consultant. She was a great help to me. I would suggest looking up a local LC to help you before things get too out of hand! good luck...it can be frustrating, but you're doing an awesome thing for your baby ;)

I breastfed Jakes for a year and half..and am currently breastfeeding Ella..like a few others have said..she might be getting nipple confusion..if you can..try to only give breast...if you can't then you will just have to keep expressing and giving her it that way...but if at all possible..just give breast cause she will get lazy..also the finger in the mouth works..and keeping them cool..if they are too warm they just sleep instead of drinking..so strip her off a little..and tickle her feet..good luck..xx

I breast fed all 3 of my babies. Until they get the hang of it it is best to only breast feed. Some babies get nipple confusion and it sounds like Emma is a little confused about what nipple she wants. I would soley brest feed (if possible I know you have your hands full) for about 1 week or 2. Then it should be much easier going from breast to bottle and she should take either with no problem. Good luck hun... glad to hear she is doing well.

I would keep trying to get her to latch on. If she's hungry she will eat but if you try and then give up and give her the bottle she will learn that there is a much eassier way to get fed. GOOD LUCK and hope you can continue to breast feed.

some babies cant latch on no matter what you do, its ok as long as you are pumping and giving her the milk that is what really matters. it doesnt matter how she gets the milk just as long as she gets it. dont feel like you are failing its normal hun.

i found, with my daughter - to help her latch i would give her my finger first. make sure you wash your hands, of course, and let her get the technique down with your finger then trade it off for your breast
