| 12-7-2008 - Tease! | My mood while writing this blog:Anxious! |
Well I had my 38 week appointment on Thursday. My doctor was surprised that I still hadn't had my baby so she decided to check for progress. On Sunday when I had been in the hospital I was told that my cervix was still pretty much closed but it was very close to the front. By Thursday I was 1cm dilated, very thin, very soft, and very anterior. My doctor decided she wanted to do a stretch and sweep and predicted I would have my baby this weekend. Yay!
Thursday night I was up alllllll night with cramping in my lower back. It was getting worse with my tightenings, but they weren't regular, and the cramps were pretty much constant. It was awful. I woke up with Ryan when he went to work, because I couldn't lay down anymore my hips were hurting so badly, and the cramps were getting worse. I told Ryan to be prepared for a phone call, I was convinced I was in early labour.
So I had some breakfast and laid on the couch. Managed to fall asleep for an hour, then I was back up, same cramps getting worse. I tried to lay back down in bed but got really uncomfortable again. So, back to the couch I went. For some reason I can lay there but I can't lay in bed? I dunno why.
The cramps gradually got worse, to the point that if anyone had been trying to have a conversation with me, I probably wouldn't have been able to respond. I just breathed through them, but I kept forgetting to look at the clock to time them. By 4:30 I was ready to call the hospital, but I forced myself to wait it out until Ryan got home from work, and tried to time them. By now they were coming about 4 minutes apart. And a shower didn't help the pain at all.
Ryan got home shortly after 5. They were still going strong so I asked him to install the car seat in his car, just to be prepared. I walked around the apartment, the only thing I found that really helped relieve the pain was leaning against the arm of the couch and rocking my hips.
And then, out of nowhere, they stopped. Gone! I couldn't believe it! I haven't even had a single cramp since. I was SO ready to have my baby Friday, and now, who knows.
Oh well. It's Ryan's birthday tomorrow so maybe ... just maybe ... he'll get the ultimate birthday present :)
