My mood while writing this blog: eh |
Ava is 3 and a half months old, can you believe it???
Some good news - Ryan proposed to me a couple weeks ago! We've decided on an island wedding next October, because Ava will be 15 months old and theoretically will travel a bit better then. Plus, since it's a destination wedding we figured we'd give people a year to prepare for it.
Well, in true form, my father emails me yesterday to say we simply can't come to an island wedding. See he's got 2 cruises booked already, has had them booked for a year and a half apparently (this is the person who's been at me to wait for last minute deals for the wedding ... yeah right), and one of them leaves a month after my wedding would be, so he simply can't afford to come. Isn't that fantastic? And then he proceeds to say "I don't mean to rain on your parade, but an island wedding can be very expensive," and that maybe I should just get married at the courthouse and go on vacation right after. Well if I wanted to do that, then don't you think I would have thought of that??? I only want to get married once and I want it to be memorable. If we want to get married in the Dominican, I'm gonna do it, with or without my father.
Can you believe it though??? I'm his only child and he's not even coming to my wedding. Does he expect me to reschedule everything just to accommodate him? Cuz that's simply not happening. Oh, and to make it even more insulting, he proceeds to say he MAY be able to come to a reception in Canada, but only if we do it pretty much right after we get home from the Dominican. Maybe.
My mother is shocked. She shouldn't be. I shouldn't be either. He's been a flake since the day I was born. I'm just not replying to his email. I won't bother telling him how offended and devastated I am. There's no point. Mom's been fighting with him about these stupid stunts since they divorced when I was 4. It didn't have any effect then, it sure won't have any now that I'm an adult.
Yup. Leave it to my father to ruin a happy event.
