17-6-2009 - breastfeeding

My mood while writing this blog:
Ok

Since Isabella was born, we had trouble with breastfeeding, in the hospital she would not stay latced on the nipple, she pretty much did not eat anything the first two days. It got me so worried.The nurses gave her some formula to stay hydrated.I think my nipples are inverted, I dnk. Since we came home, I started pumping, I was so happy I bought the medela pump before she was born.The colostrum was so hard to pump out,This week i read about some latch assistant from medela, it is a nipple i put over my own and it works!She is actually nursing.I am still pumping to increase my milk production and so my husband can feed her, too.I am not sure if i am producing enough milk, she is 10 days old and i can pump about 1.5 oz total from both boobs per feeding.i hope i will start producing more.

i used the breast shield in the hospital because lilly wouldnt latch on..problem is she would ONLY latch on to the breast shield. i pump and my little chunker eats 3 ounces every feeding. stay hydrated and eat to help your milk...and massage your breasts before feeding/pumping. my pediatrition also told me its okay to supplement formula sometimes. hope this helps

I had a hard time getting Keeley to latch as well. Surprisingly though I offered her my breast on Saturday before the bottle that I had pumped and she took it really well. Just keep with it, I know it is hard but so worth it when you know they are doing it right. She was feeding every 15 minutes because she wasn't latching now she feeds 30 minutes to a hour every four hours. You just want to make sure your baby has at least 6 wet diapers a day, and is waking at least every four hours for a feeding, if not more often.

Zrovna jsem si nedavno rikala, jestli jste se uz dockali.velke gratulace k narozeni male Isabelly, mimochodem krasne jmeno.
S kojenim vam mohu trochu poradit, stale jeste kojim meho syna.
Pokud chcete zvysit produkci mleka nejlepsi je detatko co nejvice prikladat k prsu, protoze je to lepsi nez odstrikavani, je to mnohem ucinnejsi. Nevadi i pokud nebude zrovna pit, ale treba jen "dudlat" .
Pijte hodne vody, to pomaha, ja mam dovezeny laktacni caj z Cech, ktery mi hodne pomohl,(fima dr. popov nebo Gresik) ale urcite se da neco takoveho sehnat i tady.
Pomaha take si namocit pres noc vlocky a snist je rano.
Ja vim, ze to muze byt nekdy frustrujici,hlavne ze zacatku, ale casem se to mnohem zlepsi.
Ja jsem pouzivala " shields", ktere mi dali v nemocnici a myslim, ze to pomohlo k vytvarovani mych bradavek, takze maly se pak mnohem lepe prisal.
Pokud si nebudete jista ,v nemocnici kde se mala narodila je urcite nejaka laktacni pracovnice, nevahejte a zeptejte se na co budete potrebovat.
Pokud vam mohu jeste s necim poradit budu rada.
