My birth story!

So it all started on Thursday the 4^th, i went for my doc appointment and as it was in my blog that they had decided to induce on the Sunday 7^th. Well on Thursday night i decided if they were going to induce me i may as well try this castor oil and see how that would work as sex,walking, and anything else wasn’t doing anything and this castor oil would be used as last resort... so anyways it was about 4 ish in the afternoon when i had about 3 tbls of it mixed into a choco milkshake, and i tell you what it was the worst thing ive ever tasted but i guess it was my last chance! So it didn’t do anything no bowel movements or anything cept nausea! I went to the toilet beforehand so i don’t think there was really anything in there. Moving on.. around 9 pm my back started to hurt and become amazingly sore, i fell asleep though and ignored it as ive had terrible back pain for most of the pregnancy, woke up at 1.30 with it still being sore so i was like hmm ok i took 2 panadol fort with codeine but by the time it took me to walk back to my room ( not even 5m away ) my waters broke, not a huge amount but enough for me to go yup this is it! I walked to the toilet and even more of it came away so i called to my partner ( yup we are freaks he was watching a movie at 1.30 am in the morning ) and we got my bags and left.. keeping in mind all i had was minor back pain ( which i later found out were some contractions ) so got to emergency they hooked me up to the machine and i was like hmm ok are u going to send me home or are u going to keep me here and the stupid midwife was seeing i was contracting regularly but not enough to time them as in yup 4 mintutes or so but they were lasting 50+ seconds.. so after being hooked up for a while she sent me to L&D who told me my options are to stay in the labor ward and they will have everything done and dusted asap and they would induce me to get regular contractions, or i could go to the recovery area and labor on my own as i was trying to do things as naturally as possible. So i decided to go upstairs and i stayed there until about mabe 9am or so.. until i thought i was about 4 cms dilated as they wont let u in the bath unless u are 4 or more... keep in mind the whole time that ive been at the hospital they have not done a single internal.

So at 9 or so i go ok i cant do this i might need to get in this bath and go from there, we get down there and at around 2.30pm i get the doc to do a internal and he did it with the thing they do pap smears with... i have no idea why they did it that way, but he is like nah u not even dilated or effaced.. which is crap cos my doctor told me on Thursday that im about 1.5cm and it is changing so i knew something was wrong there... got to about sometime in the afternoon i think about 4pm he checked me again and was like yup its about 6 cms so i was about 3 cms when he checked me earlier, but he said he must of made a mistake... well what a bastard. So i had a bath and got over it pretty quickly, then they said ok we will have this baby shortly this is ur last chance to get pethidine, this time the contractions were starting to get pretty painful so i was like yup ok lets do this... doc same one as before, comes in and is like yup 9 cm this baby is going to be here shortly....

Shift change.. different doc examines me... nope 7 cm, no dilation ( at about 9 pm ) no nothing! So we keep on labouring for a few more hours and they refused to give me another shot of peth.. they were like no we will have this baby shortly ... 7pm came and went which is when they said i could get my second shot of peth.... they kept on putting it off.. so i was only using the gas and i tell you what after having it all morning it didn’t work and half of the time it made me sick and i ended up vomiting so much during the whole labor. It got to about 12am on Saturday morning and i still was only on the gas still no dilation and then we decide to go on for about a hour more before they start the hormones... im shaking with pain to the point of passing out between contractions, they were 3 minutes apart and lasting about a minute each, then they offered the epi, i didn’t want to do it as i thought it would make me look weak, but Derek ( my partner ) said to me that we had to have the epi.. at this point they start the solution for the epi and the hormones... a hour later at 1am they still hadn’t got the epi lady in. So i started screaming and telling them to put me under GA and cut her out... i was begging them but they said no hehe.... finally we get the epi lady in and she starts to explain shit to me, which im like just hurry the fuck up and get it in me... i don’t care about anything else.... so afte all that i get the epi and fall asleep on and off.. they kept on waking me telling me to roll over from side to side as her heartbeat was rising and falling... this for me was a pain cos the epi was only partially working on one side and i had to refill it to make it work on both sides..... 3 am comes around... and they check me again... they said yup time to push... i was woken up to be told this and i was like ok i gotta call my god mum, im not having this baby without her... she arrived after 20 miniutes of pushing.. at about 3.30 they said to me that they will be using a vaccum to help...the first one they used broke, and the second one got her out.. what had happened is she got stuck and kept on flipping from front to back then her sholders were coming out on a angle so i had to get cut to make way for them..... after 30.5 hours of labor Amelia Jade polyak was born at 3.37am on the 6^th of june 2009. Weighing in at 8.6 pounds or 3.890 kgs.. and 49cms long. She was in shock when she was born and wasn’t breathing but just needed some air and was fine!
