02-12-2008 - caffiene

My mood while writing this blog:
good

what is your input on the caffiene subject? other than giving the baby a little energy is it BAD for them? just wondering because the farther and farther along I get, Im craving cokes and stuff more and more and its just getting so hard to say no. am I doing HARM???

ive been drinking caffeine the whole time just in moderation, i think its fine, or i just go with the caffeine free coke and stuff it tastes the same..

I think its all about moderation. When Im having the cravings which isnt all that often I buy the small soda cans in a six pack. So if I do get that craving I can have (I think 8oz) which is plenty to crush my craving! :)

your aloud up to i believe 300 mg a day. with that said 1 mountain due has only like 30. When i was pregnant with my first son i worried about it because everyone makes such a biiiig deal about it but, my sisters sister in law was seeing a high risk doctor and he said it really does not matter how much you drink as long as your getting your water, milk ect. The 1st trimester is when the caffeine can take the biggest effect on the baby and potentially cause miscarriage.

You sound like me when I was pregnant with my daughter. I tried to be very limited in what I would drink and then when I got to like 30 or so weeks I was just craving anything with caff in it and I think it was just so I could get some energy back. This time I have had caff the whole time. Water still makes me sick and I can usually get about a bottle down a day and then I have a couple of cokes, maybe some sweet tea or something with meals, but I drink a lot of juice. I just cannot seem to get any energy unless I have some caff. Also this pregnancy I have craves sweets like none other and so I feel my little one jumping around all the time. I have talked to my doctor about it and she would personally like to see me drink more water just b/c I need the fluids, but said there is nothing wrong with having a couple of cokes a day. Hope this helps. Try not to worry too much. People have been drinking caff for years while pregnant. I personally think if there were something wrong with it the doctor's would stress not to drink it at all or something would have been found by now that shows we should not drink it. Sorry this is so long- I obviously like hearing reassurance on this topic as well! :)

I have been craving cokes like crazy too! I didnt even really drink soda before I got pregnant but I crave it now and for some reason I hate drinking water it just tastes so gross to me!! Anyways its not proven that caffiene has any effect on a fetus and I still drink it everyday - they say no more than like 300 mg is perfectly fine and coke only has about 35 mg in it. I still try to limit it to one cup of coffee or one coke a day but.... I wouldnt worry about it too much sweetie! My Dr. said caffiene is nothing to worry about as well.

I drink caffeine all the time. When I first found out I was pregnant I tried to drink atleast one glass of water a day but it made my heartburn soooo much worse so I dont drink water anymore. I dont think its a big deal.

I still have caffeine, i just limit it to like one thing a week if that. As long as i don't pig out throughout the week on unhealthy things then on Friday or something i will have a 20oz cherry coke/pepsi. I don't see it doing any harm, he doesn't even get hyper when i drink it and it hasn't given me GD as someone told me it would.

my doc told me that it would be ok if i still had it....
my mom told me that when she was preg wit me and my bros and sis that she always had caff... and my sis had it wit her 2 kids... and they are both fine.... i tried to go with out when i first got preg. and i coudn't do it....:( some ppl say its bad... and some ppl say that it won't hurt a thing...
