01-12-2008 - sick baby :(

My mood while writing this blog: sad

My sisters baby has had large lumps in her neck, on the back of her head and on her groin. Her doctors kept saying it was fine. Two months later, for the first time, my sister gets to see the actual doctor and not a nurse. She was immediately sent to the ER. Her baby is considered "failure to thrive"as she has not gained any weight for weeks. At 4.5 months of age she has only gained 2 pounds total. She has severe acid reflux. They found a heart murmur today. Her white blood cell count is 5X that of an adult! My poor niece! They hope to find out what is going on in the next couple of days. I am worried about her and her mommy. On top of it all my sisters milk is drying up and the baby seems to be allergic to formulas. Good grief, can she catch a break! We really hope it is not cancer. She is on the floor with children who are cancer patients. She says that they are really kind and oogle over her baby girl. We all just want to know what is going on! We love you Eva Grace!

i am sorry to here about your niece. i will keep her in my prayers. all of my kids had to go on alimentum as they were allergic to milk and soy. they could not even have my breast milk as it had milk and soy in it. and two of the three had acid reflux. my second developed phemona from it and since her reflux was not treated right she developed chronic sinusits, enlarged tonsils, sleep apnea. and after she had her tonsils out at 2yrs old she developed swallowing problems from having so much space in her throat andl she got pnemonia again. she was sick and on antibiotics every month for 1 1/2yrs. she has asmtha when she get sick not and maybe some reflux with illness as well but thankfull she is better. my son has it and i took him to a speciallist so he would not have to go through what she did. he still gets sick every month but since we stay at home now he get sick but does not need antibiotics. i really do wish the best for your niece. did you move up in weeks? i thought you were due around the same time as i am.
