| 16-4-2009 - High Risk Sono Results |
My mood while writing this blog: Tired and relieved |
Hi everyone. I had my Level 3 sono today to look at all the organs and make sure the baby was progressing. I was thrilled to find that the baby was doing just fine. However, it was being a bit stubborn (takes after me apparently). It kept placing the arm in front of the heart, so we were there forever trying to get the baby to cooperate. The arm would move for a second and then come right back. However, it was not shy in the least about showing the gender. It's a boy. My hubby was able to come (thank God!) and I think he was pretty pleased at the gender even though he won't admit it. I was hoping for a girl only cuz it is more practical to reuse my daughter's stuff than buy little boy stuff, but I'm just thrilled to death he's healthy. All the testing they did a few weeks ago came back normal, more good news. The doctor did order us to come back in 3 weeks. She wants to check the heart again (very high risk with my diabetes and hypothyroidism). We are also to see a geneticist that specializes in children. They want to see my 3 year old and make sure that her speech delays are from her hearing loss (too many ear infections and didn't do tubes soon enough) and not a chromosome abnormality which could be a problem for the new baby. So in short, things are looking great. This next part is a pain in the butt for me, but might make some of you jealous lol. Because of my high risk of stillborn, I have to have sonos twice per week starting at 28 weeks. Between now and then, it's just monthly as the baby isn't ready to be born much before 28 weeks. Also, we are still being threatened with having to deliver in amarillo as they are more experienced with the risks at birth to the baby than my home area hospital. Time will tell how that goes. If he's born before 34 weeks, it will have to be in amarillo as my hospital's NICU isn't prepared for a baby earlier than that. All in all, it was great news and I'm thrilled. Thank you to all who have supported me in this stressful process. I truly appreciate it.

Friday, 29 May Oh wait, is a sono the same thing as an ultrasound? Just wandering because when I go to my regular doctor, she listens to the baby's heartbeat with the doppler thing but we cannot see the baby on screen..they do that when I go to the hospital mrsscorpio -
Friday, 29 May Sonos twice per week, wow that's a lot. My pregnancy is high risk also but so far, i've only had one sono at 10 weeks. I'm not scheduled for another until 20 weeks. I'm so anxious, I kinda wish they would do them every two weeks...at least then i would be reassured that the baby is developing well and is okay. I guess the good thing about going twice a week is that the doctors will be able to spot a problem right away should any problems arise (hopefully everything will go smoothly though). Are you on bed rest? KaeliandEricasMom -
