| 14-7-2008 - What is this rash? | My mood while writing this blog:Puzzled |
Grace had a doctors appointment on Monday for her 6 month check up and shots. After the nurse weighed her and got her height she gave me a baby hospital gown to put on her while we were waiting for the doctor. When the doctor came in she was looking Grace over and asked "How long has she had this rash?". I said I didn't know she had one. Maybe it was from the detergent in the gown. The doctor agreed that it must be the cause. Checked her out and sent us on our way.
The next day the rash was worse & she had a fever. Now the fever could have just been from the shots the day before. I had to pick Grace up from the sitter because she was nervous about the rash. I took her back to the doctor (different one this time because mine was unavailable) and she said it looks like a viral rash. But she could not determine the cause because her ears, throat & lungs were all fine and besides the fever she didn't show any signs of being sick. None the less she needs to be away from other kids for atleast 2 days or until the rash goes away.
The following day Grace was happy as can be. Rash was still there & I was pissing off work because I had to stay home with the baby for the next few days. By the 3rd day the rash was gone. Grace was back to normal happy & healthy.
We do not know exactly what caused the rash. We did read & see on the news that there has been an out break of the 3 day measles. I have to assume that is what it was. I looked up pictures on the net and her rash was not as prominate as the pics I saw but looked similar. It was light red spots that eventually ran together except on her hands and feet & a little on her cheeks where it was still spotty.
Thankfully all is well and Grace is back to her beautiful self again. :)
