25-3-2009 - Questions OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

Basically all day all I think about is if my boyfriend is going to be able to be contacted when I go into labour. He has a cell phone, but never buys minutes because he doesn't use it like at all.
And he works two jobs so I only talk to him at 10 at night until about 1 am. And I only see him Saturdays and Sundays, so hes most likely not going to be with me. Is this normal to think about this all day? I'm only 26 weeks, I'm not even close to labour yet.

THEN my mom told me tonight that there probably going to be rude to me at the hospital because, yes i'm 16!
and that made me pretty mad.
Is there not rules that they need to be nice to me while im there, i'll try to be nice.
But if im in labour im not going to be peachy. So i really hope there not rude.
I want this to be a good time, but everyday my mom just puts me down.

blaaah , im just talking way too much.. lol sorry :P

If your nurse is rude to you, you ask her the name of the nurse manager on duty and her phone number so that you may contact her directly. She'll change her tune and straighten up. But go ahead and report her behavior anyway. It would be inexcusable. For now, I hope you can focus on the gift you are carrying and begin to look forward to a lifetime of love between you and your coming child.

I was 16 when I first got pregnant, so keep your head up. Im so sure that you will be a great mom. And they weren't mean to me when I had my baby.

most of the nurses that i have ever dealt with while having my son were really nice and never said anything about my age, dont worry about it, be nice to them and they will be nice to you.

Don't be sorry. With my first pregnancy, I used to worry that my hubby wouldn't be around when I went into labor (he works alot also) and I'd have to drive myself to the hospital 40 minutes away. Sounds like bf is very busy, but you might see if you can use his work number to tell him or buy him some minutes right before you go into labor (usually with a first one you have warning signs days before real labor, but not always). Also, your mom's warnings could be right, but it's entirely up to the nurse that you get. Some nurses I had were great and others you were counting the hours til their shift was done. Just remember to have someone in labor that's your support and the nurse won't be so important. Anyways, good luck. You're mom is probably trying to give you a dose of reality so you're not shocked when or if it happens. Good luck, it'll work itself out.

remember, some nurses are there souly for the paycheck. so it doesn't matter who the patient is, they will find something to be mean about- even if it's the type of insurance the patient has! But for the most part, the nurses are really nice- no matter how old you are. Some are even a little more friendlier since you are a young mother. The stereotype that nurses are mean to unmarried teen mothers comes from a long time ago. If you have a rude nurse, the nurse is probably rude to everyone because she just hates her life!!! Good Luck. Quit worrying about the details. It will all be ok.

It was 17 years ago when i had my first son & I was a teenager too. I will admit I had one nurse that was a total bitch to me. She kept saying "this baby didn't ask to be born" everytime I had a complaint or discomfort. I know part of it was my age, she never would have said that to an adult! Also when she saw my babies daddy was black she got MAJOR attitude. Obviously she was racist. Hopefully for you times have changed & people have more common sense now. You will need support not judgement.
