| 04-3-2009 - becoming jaina | My mood while writing this blog:amazed & proud |
Breastfeeding is going better than I could ever have imagined...I'm producing enough milk to feed a small country...she's eating well and gaining good weight - Hooray! I have yet to bust out the pump (hehe, no pun intended) - I'm still slightly intimidated by it. I know it needs to be done soon, the sooner the better, it'd be nice to have Grandma babysit while Jake and I take a night out.
The cloth diapers are also going better than expected. I thought when we went out for the day, we would use disposables...but we've realized that cloth are just as easy as the disposables. We have plastic bags - kind of like the ones people use to pickup their dog's poop - that keep the dirty cloths from stinking up and soaking everything else in the diaper bag. The diaper service we are using delivers clean diapers once a week and picks up the dirty ones. Last week Jake was in the shower and I slept right through the delivery...Yikes! They were nice and left the clean cloths outside our door, but we sat all week with two bags of dirty diaps...good thing her poop isn't stinky yet!
My first 'I can't believe I did that' story: After a feeding yesterday, she was very calm and we were sitting on the couch together. I had noticed earlier in the morning that she had scratches on the side of her face and knew it was time to clip those fingernails. We did really good up until her last thumb, we couldn't have timed it any more wrongly; she twitched, while I clamped and we must have realized at the same time what happened because she screamed as I gasped! Yup, I clipped her thumb and she bled. We both cried while I held a washcloth on it...
On a lighter note, the weather seems to be breaking and the sun has been out more the past week...maybe Old Man Winter has blown through and Spring is peeking in (keeping my fingers crossed) I'm looking forward to getting outside and doing some walking.
