| 11-5-2009 - Such a Relief--GREAT NEWS | My mood while writing this blog:Happy |
Finally, some good news. I have been so worried about my work situation after Hudson is born. I work over an hour from home and gas is expensive. I have been worried about how we would be able to pay for gas and daycare once he gets here. I would love to be a stay at home mom, but unfortunately that just doesn't fit in our budget yet. Not to mention I just graduated from college last year, and now I am in student loan debt. Not working just seems like 4 years of wasted money and time.
My job is truly ideal for what I wanted to acheive with my degree and my future. I love graphic design, but I also enjoy webdesign as well. My job is a perfect mix of the two. It's a small company, but growing by leaps and bounds. The people I work for are very family oriented and understanding. It's just hard to pass that up.
Last week I told them we needed to discuss my maternity leave becuase some very important parts of my plan have changed. Originally my aunt was planning on keeping Hudson, however she has changed her mind. She recently retired and I don't blame her not wanting to take on a newborn fulltime.
Well my bosses came back from a long weekend ready to talk today. I as so nervous, but it all worked out great. They asked me when I feel I will be ready to come back, 6 weeks just didn't feel long enough, so we settled on 8 weeks instead. They have decided to give me a $1 raise when I come back, plus a $50 a week bonus to help with childcare. This also came with the promise that if I continue to help produce more websites, that I will be receiving more raises to follow. They also offered to pay me while I'm on leave. I won't be paid for 40 hours a week, but 20 instead with the understanding that I can do some work from home for them. All in all, it sounded like a pretty good deal to me.
So now the search begins for a babysitter, I would prefer to find a private babysitter. The thought of public daycare and 8 week old scare me. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything continues to fall in place.
