22-7-2008 - first ultrasound!

My mood while writing this blog: so happy :)

this morning i had my first ultrasound! the hubs and i went bright and early and saw what we were hoping to see! because i'm under 14 weeks, the nurse practicioner said i had to do a vaginal ultrasound (which is totally no big deal- don't be scared). the funniest part was when she first started looking around, she explained that the first thing she was going to do was look for multiples. the hubs and i held our breath in terrified anticipation as she looked around and said, "oh! what's that?" she spotted an ovarian cyst and mistakenly called it another baby! aaah! either way i would have been thrilled, but my jaw definately dropped as she poked around. turns out, we have only ONE healthy, happy little bean floating around in me! it was such an amazing and encouraging thing to see your baby, and to watch it's little heart beat. i got 2 pictures, which i posted on the main page. i can't stop looking at these pictures- the hubs and i went to breakfast to detox and celebrate seeing our bean, and kept pulling out the pics and trying to draw life-size versions on our placemats! now at work, i've got the pics under my plastic desk mat, and keep shuffling my papers over so i can catch another glimpse. this is one of the happiest days of my life! i can't wait to watch my little bean grow over the next months!
