12-9-2009 - Update on doc visit, preggo pics, and life in general...

My mood while writing this blog: wanna go back to sleep...

Ok so i had my GBS swab test at my 37 week appointment, and yesterday at 38 weeks found out it came back postive. Ugh. But its ok cause the midwife told me that i can keep my heplock and the iv only needs to run for 20 minutes. No big deal. So im over that lol. We told the midwife about the basics on our birth plan, cause we forgot the copy of it haha. But she sounded so with us! It was awesome. I feel so confident now, even more than before. But guess what else the midwife says... Omar asked about how much she weighs... and she said ABOUT 8 LBS. I was just like hoolly craapp shes gonna be huge!! But the midwife made me feel better by saying "its your body and your baby, why would your body make your baby bigger than you could push out? Trust me, your body and baby know what theyre doing." I was like hmm.. ok that made me a little reassured. But still... 8 lbs?!?!?? Damn if she stays in 2 more weeks she'll be 10 lbs. *shudder* Looks like omar we'll get his wish for a big baby haha. But the appointment went really well. Heartbeat still sounds great. Weight gain isnt too bad. Another pound or two. But with the weight, im not really concerned, im almost done why sweat it unless its like severe gain. Im supposed to meet with my doula lisa today and discuss our birth plan and stuff and kinda make a "labor map" of basically whats gonna happen and how everythings gonna go down once im in labor. Im excited to meet with her.

Next order of business... middle name deciding. I think we've decided on a middle name. I was thinking about it at work and it just kinda hit me. We're not sure yet but i think this is gonna be it. Since omar had brought up his mom and grandmas names while we were just name browsing back in the beginning of my pregnancy... i was like hmm. Honestly, neither of there names sound good with Mikayla. But i love them both the same and me and omar care for them very dearly and would have loved to have one of their names. But i dont think i could choose if they had sounded good. His moms name is Maria and his grandmas name is Ana. Soooo... i came up with....*drumroll* .... Mariana. (pronounced mah-ree-ah-nuh). He thought it sounded good but he's still iffy about it. But im pretty sure thats going to be it. Soo... "Mikayla Mariana Carballo" Sounds good right? Id love to hear opinions ladies.. And while we're on this type of subject. I think we're going to ask omars stepdad to be the babys godfather. Since omars "best friend" since they were kids recently shocked us and became really shady and then ditched us for his loser gf and decided he was too good for us. Oh well. His loss. I dont need people like that in my daughters life. But yea, his stepdad will most likely be our choice there.

Hmm.. what else. Oh. Maternity photos... We had a good time taking them and they came out AWEESOME. Except they came out to wayyyy too much money. I was like "but this is nowhere near what you said it would cost" and i got the runaround blah blah thats the starting price and this that the third. We loved the pics and we'd already taken them, signed the papers, viewed and picked them. So we were like w/e we know better next time, next time its sears photo haha. But i gotta wait a few weeks to get them, so that kinda sucks. But i cant wait for you ladies to see them. They look beautiful.

Now for the last update... the nursery. So the dresser im refinishing was giving me some speedbumps. There was some plastic pieces so stripping the spots around it was tough and i didnt know what to do about the staining when theres plastic spots. So im staining it and painting the plastic... i have an idea on what im doing and how to make it look nice so im back on track. And for sanding the small pieces, i got a dremel yesterday. hehe. so ill be finishing it up withing the next few days. The nursery is going to be primed today. We'll make sure everything looks ok, maybe sand a few more spots where the spackl was and put a bit more primer. But operation white ceiling paint will start tomorrow. Then the walls get painted pink. And then i believe the little things, like the curtains/blinds, light switchplates/outlet covers, new baseboards, moulding, doorknob, and small finishing touches will be put on. Then... we put everything together and set it all up. And itll be finished! YAY!!! Im soo excited. I hope its all done on time though! Cross your fingers for us ladies!

So thats about it in our little world. I decided not to go to work today. Oh well lol. But thanks for reading my novel if you made it through. Love you all, and hopefully i get to see my Mikayla soon(when then nursery is done lol!)
