| 17-6-2010 - Getting ready. sweep & stretch and induction | My mood while writing this blog:happy, tired, anxious |
So I went to the Dr.s today and had a stretch and sweep. Let me tell you it was not a bed of roses! LOL It was actually pretty painful and to have a garruntee of only 50% of working it kind of sucks, hence the anxious part. I have lost my muscous plug since and I am pretty sore there, but wondering if that is from the manioluation that my poor cervix just felt. Before doing it, I was approx 1cm and 50% effaced. He did say that I was closed at the other end though so he had to really push to get his finger through. If this does not work then I go to the hospital on Monday and if it isn't to busy then he will induce me, if it is busy he will do another stretch and sweep and send me home and I will be induced on Friday for sure. THis kind of sucks since everyone has planned for MOnday and I want the midwife there that delivered my son, which would be Monday. THe other one is great too but since I have already been through a labour with the midwife and she klnows what my body is capable of I would rpefer her.
I must say that this [prpegnancy has been a fairly emotional and trying one. Especially that last few weeks since being diagnosed with gestional diabetes and having my care transferred to an OB in the hospital instead of a midwife at home. And was really upsets me is that if they woiuld have just listened to me and redone the test it probably would have been different. See before the test was done I was drinking a lot of juice on a regular basis, once I got the results I stopped drinking juice( as much as I crave it I have stayed away!) I levels have actually been lower since moving as well and I am having a hard time keeping them above the 5.0 that they want. So all this fuss for nothing! This is also the reason why I am being induced at 38wks ( next week) instead of going naturally. They are worried that she is going to be a big baby, which is a common issue with diabetes. I will actually laugh if she is only in the 7's, but I was expecting an 8lb baby before the diabetes.
So here is hoping for a baby today so this is all over :)
