| 18-12-2009 - Question about baby food |
My mood while writing this blog: Happy |
Hey ladies. So I have a question. When did or will you start your baby on baby food? And if so, how do you do it? I want to start my baby on baby food when she is 4 months old but I don't when to give her baby food and bottles. How often do I give her baby food and how often do I give her formula?
Also, is your baby sleeping through the night and if yes how did you get them to? Mine still wakes up 2 times a night.
Thanks.

Saturday, 19 Dec hi hun , i started brayden on food when he turned 17 weeks , this is the (yougest they want you tostart them on foody ) they say to wait till 6 months but brayden was more than went from 4 hr bottles to 3 to 2 hrs between bottles , it was crazy !!his typical day starts at 6.30 - he has a bottle then at 7.30 he has porridge then at 10 he has a bottle ( this one he really wants )then lunch at 12 then bottle at 2 then dinner at 4 then bottle at 6 then 6.30 bed he does not like water / juice so thats whyhe has so much milk !brayden sleeps from 6 pm till 6.30 am but the last week he has been waking up a few times as he has 3 teeth coming all at once , he cries for his dummy thengoes back to sleep .good luck xxxx lgk616 -
Friday, 18 Dec I forgot - we still don't sleep through the night! And like I said, she is 14 months old. Some baby's do and some don't - every baby is different really. I am not a fan of CIO (cry it out) and will not put Isabella through it. Her night waking isn't interrupting our daily functioning anyway. She is starting to sleep longer on her own anyway and I believe when she is ready - she will sleep through the night. xox lgk616 -
Friday, 18 Dec It's advisable to wait until they are 6 months old before they have their first solids as their digestive system is not ready for anything other than milk before that. My daughter is 14 months old and still breastfeeding but we started her on solids in her 6th month. The first food was pureed fruit. One fruit at a time incase she had an allergy to something - but she didn't so we were able to mix a few together a while later. The 2nd week after fruit, we started veggies - again one at a time. The 3rd week we started chicken or beef. Now she eats almost everything (on her own too!!) and still is getting breastfed. Along with solids at 6 months of age, you will continue to formula feed until she is 1 year old and then you will introduce cow's milk to her. Once she is taking the cow's milk and eating solids steadily, she won't need the formula anymore. Try and wait till her 6th month - it's pretty important for her in the future as well. Don't rush it! If you think she's hungry before she turns 6 months, up her formula amount. Good luck to you! xox
