08-1-2009 - First Ultrasound

My mood while writing this blog:
Excited, but still slightly worried..

So I just got home from my first ultrasound (well, we went out for dinner afterwards and told DH's parents how it went). I still have to go see my mom and give her a copy of the picture.. That's right! We found a heartbeat! It was 178 bpm! I'm so happy right now! I almost cried when I saw the heartbeat! It's the first time I have ever seen my baby's heart beating!
The good news is that the baby looks good and he/she has a strong heartbeat. The downside is, we're about a week behind what we thought we were... I must have ovulated late due to the last miscarriage.. The baby measured 8.5 weeks (right about the same time we lost the last one), so I'm a bit nervous (although the tech said 8.5 weeks, give or take half a week so I'm waiting to see what my doctor has to say about it). My first appointment with my doctor is on Monday. It's the fun one where they do the pap. After tonight, I think I'm going to ask him if I can get another early ultrasound done to make sure the baby is still doing ok. I mean, we got to this point last time, we need to know we can get past it. So I'm still a little worried, but it felt SOOO good to see the heartbeat!
Now I have to head over to my mom's! I'll post a picture of the lil' jelly bean later (probably this weekend)!

awww brilliant news! I am so pleased your saw the heartbeat. Its really hard for them to date the pregnancy at this stage so I wouldnt worry too much x

They do say that once you've seen the heartbeat the likelihood of miscarriage goes down... I think it's fine! :)
