18-2-2009 - Bad News..

My mood while writing this blog: Stressed

No bad news about the baby!! Don't worry, everything seems to be going just fine there!

So DH and I went on a short vacation that started last Thursday (on my birthday) and we got back on Monday. We went to Southern California for a friend's wedding and went a little early so we could play a little.
So we got back on Monday (after a long day waiting in the airport to see when we could get back because we missed our original flight back), and I headed back to work on Tuesday. Well, I got in and my boss seemed like he was in a pretty bad mood, but everyone else seemed ok.. About 10:30 he asks if he can talk to me privately. Turns out, the company is doing some lay offs, and my position got cut. My boss was very nice about it. He tried to fight for my position and to keep anyone from his department from being cut, but the owner said no, someone had to go. I can't be too mad about it because I know that I was the logical person to cut if he had to cut someone. And I was the last one hired. The front office staff had to cut someone too and they cut a lady that had been working there for 18 years.
So needless to say, I'm a little stressed. This is not a good time for a lay off.. And on top of it, DH's company did pay cuts across the board less than a month ago. I'm a little worried about getting everything ready for the baby before he/she arrives now.. I know that I can claim unemployment, which will help us for awhile, but I'm frustrated at trying to find a new job in this bad economy. I feel like I'm starting over last year looking for a job (I started this job last February) only to make it more challenging, I'm pregnant and starting to show, and the economy is bad. I'm trying to stay optimistic, I know that God will provide.. But I'm honestly getting a little tired of having my faith tested.
DH is off on a business trip to London for the next week (he leaves first thing tomorrow morning). I really don't want him to leave right now, but I know that he has to go for his job (and he REALLY needs to keep his job right now..). Well, I'm off now to help him finish packing and spend the evening with him. (Plus, I really should stop the rant, I know that we're still in a better position than a lot of people are right now...)

I'm so sorry honey! You're right, you guys have been through alot of trials this past year. I'm just so glad that THIS particular incident didn't take your baby this time...you've had that happen two times too many! As for getting what you need for this baby...between Amanda and me, we already have almost everything you're going to need except the fun stuff like bedding sets and what not. I have that white crib just sitting in our shed...if you want it you can have it, Amanda has one of my baby swings and one of her own that she won't be using for a while, by the time your baby is born you can use my bassinet (it's easy to pull into other room since it's light weight and has wheels) or Amanda has offered up her cradle, unlimited baby clothes are already being passed around our circle of friends...for a boy OR a girl, and lots of misc. other things that can be shared. We'll help you out as much as we possibly can sweetie! Your baby is going to be spoiled! There's no question about it! I can't wait to meet him or her! Good luck on the job hunt and you know you're more than welcome to come over anytime while Greg is in London! See ya tonight to go riding! We're making steaks for dinner, so if you want, you can join us for dinner too! See you in a few hours!

OMG! Don't do that to me. My heart fell to the floor when I read the title of your blog. I'm glad everything is ok with baby. And...GOOD for you for being positive about the lay off. God is good. He will provide.

oh dear! sorry about your job. Mine is under review too, I just have to wait for the outcome. I think you are remaining very calm, I would be in sheer panic if I were you!!! I am sure it will all work out fine x x How protected are you with being pg, here in the UK, they would find it very hard to make a pg lady redundant.

That was a most controlled rant. I think you are showing remarkable composure and restraint. I'll be wishing the best for you and your hubby. I know it's hard to see, but sometimes great opportunities are camouflaged by hardship. Remember to take care of yourself during this stressful time.
