08-8-2009 - Update - almost 39 weeks

My mood while writing this blog: Tired and Uncomfortable

So I figured I should put out some kind of update.. I haven't been on very much (trying to get everything done before Liam gets here).
Last Wednesday (8/5/09), I had my doctors appointment (just the standard 38 week appointment). The bad news is that my blood pressure was really high and I'm now being tested for pre-eclampsia (this late and it's just now hitting..) The only symptom that I've had for it is high blood pressure, but it is an important one. We should find out Monday or Tuesday if I have it.
The good news is that we have actually progressed towards labor! My doctor almost walked out of the exam room without checking, but I asked him to. He said "glutton for punishment, huh?" (with a smile on his face) and I said, "no, I just want to know if we've gone anywhere" (the doctor that I saw the week before had told me that his head was engaged in the pelvis). So he checked to see where we were at. He actually seemed surprised by what he found! :-) We were "3 plus" centimeters dialated and 75% effaced! And Liam's head was "right there." I was so excited by the news! My sister kinda shot me down with the news that she was at that same spot for almost 2 weeks before delivering her daughter.. but I'm still hopeful! :-) Also, my doctor said that he didn't think we'd make it til next Friday (the 14th, and my last day of work)! That was very exciting news to me :-)
I've been so crampy the last few days and I get contractions every time I stand or walk at all (as well as sometimes while I'm laying down or sitting) that I keep thinking that I'm heading towards labor! (and keep hoping! :-)) I am so uncomfortable at this point, I'm ready to have him out! My back is sore, my sciatic nerve hurts every time I walk, my hips are sore, and I can't get comfortable in any position. I seem to have lost at least most if not all of my mucus plug (which may be tmi, but I think it's good news that delivery is close!). Also he feels like he's really low! Like if I'm not careful, he'll just drop out while I'm walking. I'm taking these all as signs that I have to be close to done.. Although this is day 3 of feeling like this, so maybe he's just setting up camp for awhile... One of the doctors told me "Don't worry, no one has been pregnant forever" but I'm starting to not believe her :-)
Anyways, I think that's all I have to update for now. I need to go check my blood sugars and start another load of laundry!

Wow! 3+ that's great! I know it's uncomfortable now but just remember, all that cramping and dilating that you're doing now will shorten the process at the hospital hopefully :) I'm so happy for you Mindy, I can't wait to see pics of little Liam when he arrives.Wendy

OMG!!! how exciting, you lucky lady. When I was last checked my cervix was closed, I have no sign of my plug either :( GOOD LUCK!!!!! I hope you dont have pre eclampsia and I hope you little man is here very soon x
