Settled

Hi everyone

Just wanted to come on and say a belated merry xmas to you all and HAPPY NEW YEAR for tomorrow.

We had a fantastic xmas, I was extremely excited about it this year with us having Joshua now. We all got spoilt rotten and we've had a lovely time having family parties. Tonight we're going round the corner to my sisters with my parents to bring in the new year.

Joshua started waking in the night last week after sleeping through for over 6 weeks so I started him on baby rice a few days ago and he loves it. I'm going to keep him on the rice until he's 17 weeks and then start giving him pureed fruit and veg in small quantities. He's still waking in the night for a bottle and he guzzles it down so we are trying to get into a new routine where we can fill him up before he goes to bed. I suppose it's just trial and error but boy is it a shock to the system getting up at 4am every morning to feed him after 6 weeks of getting a full nights sleep.

He is a very happy contented little boy and I just can't get enough of him. We are only apart for an hour or so each week and I wouldn't have it any other way.

He's started trying to roll over when we lay him on our way now, he shoves his bum up in the air and is very strong. We've been out and bought him a high chair and I can't wait for him to be sturdy enough to go in it and have his little meals. It's exciting that he is growing up and advancing but I still miss he tiny baby that I gave birth to if that makes any sense. We watched the videos last night of when he was just 2 hours old and I can't believe how much he has changed. Where does the time go? Before you know it he will be crawling and walking and starting to talk!

Joshua is also very vocal, he lays and talks for hours on end, he doesn't make any sense obviously but I love listening to it.

It's been lovely having Steve off over xmas, he's booked some extra time off so he doesn't go back until 11th Jan which is great. It's so much easier when he's at home with us.

So ladies. I really hope you all have a wonderful 2010 and for those still trying to conceive I really hope this is the year for you. Happy new year from the Hudsons xxx

Everything sounds wonderful helen!! And from what I hear, the whole waking in the night will occur until they are teenagers! My sister has 3 children that, although they sleep all night, a few times a year one comes and gets her because of a bad dream, or because they are sick. A mothers work is never done!! :) I'm so happy to hear your little piglet is progressing so well, he has been born into a wonderful family and I'm sure he'll excell in all he does!!

It was great reading your blog and an update from you. I heard a song on the radio the other day and reminded me of you again and how difficult things was this time 2008. Even my blogs from then had encouragements to you. It makes me teary to read how happy you are and I just love that you have your perfect little boy to share with Steve. May 2010 be filled with incredible memories, moments and milestone. Love - L

Sometimes when they start waking just once a night after having been great sleepers, it's just because they're going through a growth spurt and they need that middle of the night bottle. So hopefully (keep your fingers crossed) once his little spurt is over, he will go back to a full night of sleep! And yes, you are right, he will be walking and talking in no time. I have a 17 month old, and I swear I don't know where the time has gone. So now with my 4 month old, I'm almost sad when she hits milestones (I know, crazy) but I just don't want her to grow up and I know that tomorrow I'll turn around and she will be shouting mama from the other room :( Enjoy every second!

hey helen, merry xmas and happy new year to you too! sounds like you've had a great time! Just wanted to comment on your little Joshua waking again after sleeping through. Maddy did the same at 4 months - thought we had cracked it then up she was again!! I read a lot and found out that it seems to be very common at that time. Apparently they have a big growth spurt and they do go through a phase of waking more then it settles again, just saying because it doesn't necessarily mean he needs solids. What I found with maddy unfortunately is after that phase we started the pre-teething phase, followed by teething, all of which disrupts their sleep (though of course some cope better than others!! we weren't so lucky!!). She cut 7 teeth in two months so it played havoc with her sleep. I love your recent pics by the way, he looks so cute in his christmas get-up!! good luck with it all, hope the waking doesn't last too long for you xx
