02-5-2008 - Naomi\'s first appointment

Yesterday we took Naomi to the mother baby clinic to be checked out. They do this one week after the baby is born to check and see if everything is going ok. First off she is pooping a lot which is a good sign that she is metabolising her food. She also was weighed and went from 5lbs 4oz which is what she was when she left the hospital on Saturday to 6lbs today. The nurse was shocked. She had to weigh her twice because she thought it was wrong the first time. ha ha She called her a little over achiever. Her belly button has not fallen off yet but it looks nice and dry and she said to keep the air on it. I also wanted to get a little bump on her bum checked out. I thought it was a hemorrhoid and was very concerned about it but once the nurse looked at it she said it looked like a skin tag. This means that it is on the outside instead of the inside like a hemorrhoid would be. I was so relieved. As parents we worry so much over these little being that can't tell us what is wrong. So all in all the appointment went very well and Naomi seems to be doing very well which makes me happy. Now if only she can get used to her bum being changed then things would almost be perfect. ha ha

She doesn't like her bum being changed?
One of my kids were like that, they got over it after a couple of weeks of being born, I think it has a lot to do with feeling insecure, try swaddling her, and freeing the bottom half, so you change the nap, you might find she is a lot better;)
