02-6-2010 - 39 Week Update

I had my 39 week appointment this morning with the midwife. Here's how it went:

We discussed peeing for starters. Yesterday I could not pee! I had to sit on the toilet and literally push to get anything out. When I did, it was a tiny tinkle. As soon as I stood up, it felt like I was going to pee my pants. She said it was most likely caused by the baby sitting on my cervix. The Way to resolve the issue; get on all fours and do pelvic tilts until the baby moves a bit. She also said a bath or swimming would help.

I lost quite a bit of my mucus plug this morning. I was very excited to report the news! Finally I thought, something is happening. Then she asks the question I've been dying to hear, "Do you want me to check you?" YES!!! CHECK AWAY! With painful contractions coming and going all week I thought for sure something must be going on!

She brings me to the exam room. She checks my blood pressure - fine. She checks the baby's heartbeat - fine. Then I get undressed from the waist down. She proceeds to check. The results........(drum roll).....I'm 1.5cm dilated and have a "very thick cervix." Are you kidding me?!!! Dilation means NOTHING! But the cervix being thick means labor is no where in sight! I've never gone anywhere close to my due date and now it looks like I'm going to go over! I asked her what the plan was if I did go over date. I'd have to come in the office every 3 to 4 days for stress tests.

OMG I just want this baby to come out!!!!! Why does he want to stay in there??? Doesn't he want to meet his older brother and sister? What about mom and dad? We're ready for him! I'M so ready for him! I want my body back! I want to sleep in comfort without peeing every 10 minutes! I have to finish planning my wedding to his father! I need to get in shape before the wedding! I need him out!!!!! To make matters worse, my mother is going on vacation for the first time in 12 years. She's going next week! She was going to watch the kids if I went in labor. Now I'll have to ask my MIL and she's not good with my daughter. EVERY single time she watches my little girl, my daughter screams her head off. I don't need to think about that while I'm in labor! Please send me some labor dust and lots and lots of prayers!!!!!
