It's been a while since I've taken the time to update. Things have been more than a little crazy around here, between the final push at school (oh, please let me pass my classes) and Nik's huge audit at work (over 2 weeks of working into the wee hours and weekends)and remodeling the whole house. (That's right, we can't do just the bedrooms, we are redoing the floors in the whole house, painting both bedrooms, and overall redecorating the house.) Added to that is trying to get Carter's IEP done for speech before the school year's out and trying to help him struggle through reading group while fighting his speech apraxia... It feels very much like a zoo here, and the stress level is unbelievable.
So... last week, I woke up in the middle of the night with the stomach flu. This made me particularly unhappy because I'd *just* gotten done with m/s. The following day, I wound up in the ER getting fluids and anti-nausea medication... and then spent all of that night up with Carter, who had caught the flu as well. It was a very miserable weekend.
But this week was much better. Tuesday we went in for our ultrasound, and found out we're having a boy! It was very exciting. I had to laugh... all the gender prediction things said girl, and Nik and I both felt we were having a girl. LOL so much for intuition. He's a very active little boy... we had a hard time looking at him in the ultrasound; he was busy bouncing around with his arms over his head. But he looks like a baby! We could see his little face and everything.
We're naming him Jayden Eli Tangen... if you'll notice, his initials spell JET. :) (Carters are CAT)
Also this week... yesterday we found a doppler on craigslist, the kind they use in the doctors offices. Despite the number of scans we've had, we hadn't gotten to hear the hearbeat yet... so yesterday after picking up the doppler I went to Nik's office and we spent 10 minutes looking for him... and found him! He's got such a strong hearbeat. We could also hear him kick. Last night, we spent an hour listening to him kick and move around. Have i mentioned that he's very very active? I think he's going to be kicking my ribs very soon, and in general keeping me up.
I can't wait.
I'm feeling pretty good today. I have this headache that I can NOT shake, which makes me very cranky... but other than that, things are good. :) It's nice to have some idea of who's in there. Makes it much more real.
