29-9-2009 - My first trip to the ER RelievedMy mood while writing this blog:
Relieved

Sunday started out as a really uneventful day. I was actually feeling really good and had a lot of energy (doesn't always happen these days). At 10AM I started bleeding - not much but enough to give me cause for concern. I had no pain or cramping so I took comfort in that. After calling the health line, I was advised to go to the ER so off we went. After waiting for a few hours, I was examined by the ER doctor, still bleeding a bit but my cervix was closed so he was happy about that. I then had to wait until early Monday morning to have an ultrasound to confirm things were fine and determine the source of the bleeding. Both babies were having a grand old time and were putting on a show for us. The bleed was determined to be a subchorionic bleed/hematoma on the placenta - not that unusual and not necessarily unexpected given that my twins are sharing one placenta. Sometimes it can be a big deal and sometimes it's not - in our case, thankfully, it's not. I just have to take it easy for the week and make sure I get lots of rest and it should heal itself. So, that was definitely a relief and I'm very thankful for the outcome.

I had one of those at 8 weeks. They seem to clear up on their own.
