I just don't know how much longer I can take this before I snap and end up losing my job because of what comes out of my mouth! The smoke seems to be getting worse, if anything, and my boss is not doing a damn thing about it. It's about 15 degrees outside, and I hate the cold...but I am forced to keep opening up the front door to let some of the smoke out. I just can't put into words how angry and frustrated I am! I even made up an excuse yesterday so I could leave at noon and escape it for the rest of the day. I can't keep doing that though. I have got to come up with a plan quick. I need a new job---and FAST, but I can't afford to go very long without a check...which is why I am stuck here. At least I can file my taxes soon and have a little bit of a cushion. This should just be illegal! I am thinking of calling the news even....am I being rediculous?! I keep reading over and over how bad second hand smoke is and I am inhaling so much of it and exposing my little one to it and not giving him or her a fair chance. I already lost one baby, and I'm scared to death I am going to end up losing this one too. : (

Thanks rooey for the info. Yes, I have told everyone in the office I am pregnant---right after I found out. Then, I did talk to my boss about the smoke bothering me a lot and he acted like he was going to do something, but he did NOTHING. I have contacted the health department, but I don't even know yet what they can do...they are supposed to be working on it though. I am going to sit with my Mom this weekend and figure out a plan to get out of here. It's not a good environment for even more reasons than the smoking...but obviously that is #1.

Honey just found this on www.wikipedia.org (its a world wide on line encylopedia. I looked up: Smoking laws in America, there is a huge list of where and when. If it still doesnt stop you have a very good case, against it!

Sweetie, is there a law that states smoking is illegal in an office inviroment? thats the first thing you need to check out. In the UK smoking is banned pretty much everywhere! from offices to pubs and resturants. Have you approached your boss about it? if not, do so, and give him an ultimatum, its either the smoke or you, explain to him that you can not take it, and you will be forced to seek a new job if it does not stop, or even ask him if he can put some rules in to place about it, may be the smoker can go out side, or is there a room that can be allocated just for the smoker. If all else fails, try the local Health and safety dept, discuss your concerns with them , and ask their advice. The will have the policies to advise you. And if he doesnt know your pregnant tell him! Tell him how much at risk you are, leave information about it laying around the office. REMEMBER: HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY! DONT BE AFFRAID TO TELL THEM YOU ARE NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT. IF THEY DONT LIKE IT, YOUR HEALTH IS WORTH MORE THAN YOUR JOB! DONT LET THEM WALK OVER YOU!!!! YOU WILL HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR SPEAKING UP.
