| 14-7-2009 - I think our company is going out of business |
My mood while writing this blog: scared |
I am really freaking out today...things haven't looked very good for a while but they are pretty bad this week. I am the assistant to the president at our company (but I don't get filled in on anything). I do handle accounts payable though, in addition to many other things...and we are in trouble. We have gotten WAY behind on all of our bills and it's to the point where we are being cut off left and right from various vendors and I am not sure if we will even make payroll this week. We haven't had much product at all to ship to our customers lately and we almost have nothing this week. We don't have money to pay for the product or the freight to send it in...so that means almost no income. I just don't know what to do. It looks very final. I was counting on being able to work up until my due date and then use the remaining week I have of paid vacation while I'm off as income---the only income I would have been able to get. I feel like just leaving now and collecting my check on Friday because I doubt I'll get my week of pay that I'm owed for vacation. I guess I will have to file for unemployment along with so many others. I have never done that before. I'm so scared...money is really tight as it is right now and to think I won't have any coming in is terrifying. Does anybody have any ideas or advice for me right now? I really need to prepare myself as best I can.

Thursday, 16 Jul how scary! my best advice is to try not to get too stressed out (easier said than done, i know). i'd probably hang in there but work on your resume in the meantime and maybe start discreetly looking for other jobs. not the best time to be doing that, but it might make you feel proactive about the situation. i wish you the best! momagainaft16years -
Wednesday, 15 Jul Get that resume ready!! Don't wait till you're at home to start looking for a job. Do it now! go on craigslist, monster.com, google jobs! Send them out immediately. And, don't leave on your own....unemployment will NOT pay. You're pregnant besides, check into WIC, food stamps, and other help. It's not the time to be proud...many upstanding Americans are in the same boat and no one will look down on you for asking for help. DO IT!!!!!! Good luck and hope you find something. momof3in3years -
Wednesday, 15 Jul hang in there hun! somehow, someway, things will work out. Don't stress yourself out if possible for the baby. And like jennymomof3 said, hang in there, you don't want them to have any reason to deny you unemployment benefits. Good luck and God speed erikatx -
Tuesday, 14 Jul aww.. big hug for you... i wish i had something positive to say, but I dont.. i am not in the same situation as you, but I am totally going insane about our finances for the next few months! Just wait for the unemployement... jennymomof3 -
Tuesday, 14 Jul Wait it out until they lay you off....if you leave before they ask you to then you won't be eligable for unemployment. Don't panic, this is happening everywhere.....There's nothing you can do about it right now. Sorry to hear about it going under.....My job has done some major desion making lately and everyone is waiting to see what happens next.
