| 17-4-2009 - First Ultrasound-12.3 weeks | My mood while writing this blog:happy |
My pregnancy offically feels 'real' to me today. I had the First Trimester Nucal Translucency Screening, and it went great! My hubby and I got to see the flicker of the heart beating (phew!), the spine, tiny legs and arms, fingers, toes, a side profile of its face and it even looked like it may be sucking on its thumb! Too early to tell is it's a boy or a girl, I won't know that until June 5, 2009.
The tech did the measurements for the scan first, and then after a while my hubby could come in to see, it was incredible to be together to see our baby for the first time. And of course I cried, and continued to be so emotional a few hours after the scan. The Nucal measurement was 1.8 mm, which I believe is within the normal range, and the Crown Rump Length is 58 mm. I had the blood test taken afterwards and won't know the results for a while. But my heart tells me that everything is ok. The tech dated my pregnancy as 12.3 days, 2 days further along than we had thought.
We got a cd with a copy of an adorable pic and can't wait to print it off to show our family and friends. I went out and bought a ultrasound photo frame that says, "LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT" and yes it truly was. I will post the Ultrasound pic online here. :0)
FYI ladies...don't feel that your bladder has to be REALLY, REALLY full to do an ultrasound. I didn't think I could manage comfortably during the exam with my bladder as full as it was (I was literally pacing the floor and was ready to bolt to the nearest bathroom that I could find), and thankfully they let me go to the bathroom before the exam...just a little.
