| 25-9-2008 - we have met our deductible! | My mood while writing this blog:frustrated |
We 've been receiving explanation of benefits from our insurance provider for the hospital stay when I got the cerclage. I have collected all of them and it looks like the most expensive bill was for the 2 day 1 night hospital stay. Because I hadn't met my deductible earlier in the year, I met it now! I called the hospital to pay all the bills (with cc of course!) and the surgery itself was only $42 after the insurance paid their portion. The hospital stay total was $4000.00. insurance paid all but $1000. My $500 deductible was part of the $1000.00.
I am so glad we didn't owe like 5k. so I paid almost $2000.00 in bills to the hospital today. How productive! I can't believe how many people/depts you have to pay for a surgery or even a hospital stay. I am so glad the dr let me go home after the cerclage. The stay was when I first went there on a friday and turned down the cerclage so they kept me overnight for observation. I really should have had the surgery on Friday. But all the drs I had spoken with were against the cerclage and said I didn't need it. Things happen for a reason and I got it done by a dr who knew what he was doing on the following Monday.
So when I have the baby, I will only have to pay 20% of my L&D charges which I am paying now monthly to my dr office. So I guess will just be left with the baby's portion of bills. I bet that will be an arm and a leg. Since she will have a deductible too. Too many bills!!! But it was worth keeping my baby girl where she needs to be! I guess I am not as frustrated as I thought. I am more surprised it wasn't more $$.
