My mood while writing this blog: cranky |
Yesterday I had to wake up at the crack of dawn to go to the lab to get my blood drawn. Normally, they check the basics like your CBC and blood type, immunity to MMR etc and they take 2 tubes of blood.
Well, OB ordered a large number of blood tests because my mom has diabetes and hyperthyroidism and my husband comes from a Jewish family. They had to take 12, yes 12, vials of blood from me, also a urine for culture. I am sure my doctor is being super cautious but does this seem like overkill to anyone? Will my husband have to have the Jewish panel run on him too?
I thought I had to be fasted for the bloodwork, so as soon as I was finished I ran and got a cinammon raisin bagel with cream cheese.
The rest of the day I was insanely tired. I just HAD to sit down. I also couldn't stomach any food. I would take a few bites and my stomach would turn. The only thing I could eat was popcorn.
I thought the blood draw was the cause of it but I am the same way today. I am beyond tired and can't stomach anything. Does anyone else have these symptoms starting at 8 weeks? Maybe I am coming down with something.

Sunday, 1 Mar Wow, that does seem like an awful lot of blood to take out of someone your size! I too felt pretty icky the rest of the day last Wednesday when they drew my blood...but they only took 5 vials on me...and it was hard to get that much since I hadn't had enough water that day! I hope you are feeling better now. tlb562 -
Saturday, 28 Feb I am so tired. I came home from work yesterday and took a nap and then still went to bed at 8:30. I can still eat...a lot unfortunately. I just have terrible cramps and have had them for the last 3 days. They took 8 vials of blood when I had to have my lab work done. I have another appnt on Monday and am hoping I don't have to do that again. Did you have to do the gloucous test where you drink an orange drink and then have to go to the lab within an hour? I have to do it, but haven't yet. I look at the orange drink inthe fridge and can't stomach drinking it.
