04-12-2009 - ~*PLEASE HELP US!!*~

My mood while writing this blog:
SO TIRED!!

~*Ok As I have said before a few days ago Jackson is now 3 weeks old today and he was at 1st wanting to stay on my breast for almost an hour then cry some and fall asleep well since yesterday OMG he only slept 3 hours out of 14hours yesterday and only did 3 hours last night and crys the rest of the time only stops if he is on my breast! He won't even drink the milk most of the time he is on it he wants to sleep and will let the milk run out the side of his mouth! I even make him stay awake when he is eating but what am I doing wrong!? i know he's getting enough b/c 3 days ago he went to doc and was 7lbs 15oz and home nurse came today and weighed him and he is 8lbs 2oz they said he is getting enough so whats going on? Why wont he sleep??? I cried last night b/c I have had maybe 4 hours of sleep in the past 2 days! I couldn't sleep the 3 hours he did sleep yesterday b/c i have 4 other children and hubby works! Has anyone went through this? if so what can i do? We both need some sleep! PLEASE HELP!!!*~

growth spurt could be it or he is just using you for comfort. Do you use a pacifier? My 1st was on my breast like 18 hours a day half the time it was crazy but i just did what i had too, i understand though that you can't do that because you have other children. if he's getting enough then try something for comfort. hope something works out soon for you. you can also consult someone from LLL (la leche league) for some help or advice.

sounds to me like he is going through a growth spurt. They are VERY trying times... and usually last a couple of days ... to as long as a week. The more he eats the more you will produce. Your breasts need to make more milk for your growing baby, so he is doing what is called supply and demand. He is making his own supply...he is letting your body know that he needs say.... four ounces a feed rather than two ounces a feed. I hope this makes sence. The best thing to do is just let him suck. I know it is VERY frustrating and trying on the nerves.. but it is what he needs. Good luck hun.. let me know if there is anything else you need. I have TONS of experience in nursing.
