19-9-2009 - 3-Week Birthday, No Sleep & Birth Story Up Tired but HappyMy mood while writing this blog:
Tired but Happy

Isaac is 3 weeks old today. I can't believe time is going by so fast - I feel like he will be 18 in the blink of an eye! I am savoring each moment (even the sleepless ones, or trying to anyway!), as I know that he will only be this little once. He's already changing and growing so much, and we are definitely bonding as a new family of 3. He is so precious and beautiful - I still look at him and can't believe he came from my belly!

It's a good thing I am so in love with him - it really helps me get through the sleepless nights! He eats every 1.5 hours, and it takes him about a half hour to eat, so by the time I get back to sleep, I have about 45 minutes to doze off before we're up again for the next round of diaper-changing and feeding! I have been so busy lately - I totally understand what it means now to be Mom 24-hours a day, 7 days a week! Thank goodness for my husband, as he took a month off from work and watches the baby in the mornings while I get some rest. I still have to wake up for feedings, but he brings Isaac to me so I don't have to get up. Every once in a while, I get really lucky and Isaac goes for 2 hours between feedings! I have heeded the most important advice I've received - sleep when the baby sleeps - and it has been a life-saver! Once he gets to sleep, it's like the race is on to get to bed myself - every minute counts and each one that passes is sleep lost! I barely have time to floss and brush my teeth any more! No matter what though, every time I wake up, I look at him and fall in love all over again. He truly is a precious gift!

In other news, I finally got Isaac's birth story up - It took me two days as each writing session was segmented into minutes while I went back and forth, tending to Isaac, writing, tending to Isaac, writing a bit more, etc. I even wolfed down my dinner last night to use some of that time to write - there's a LOT of give and take these days - everything is a very fine juggling act.... but I must say, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. My little Isaac makes every minute worth it!!

Beautifully said! I couldn't have done better myself! This describes us to a T, even down to not having enough time to brush my teeth! I hope by now Isaac is sleeping a little more!

Hey sweetie! ur boy is so very cute:) i just read ur birth story n its very similar to mine...my boy came 26 days b4 my due date and so it never dawned on me that i was in labour !! even my doc was taken aback when she saw me in the labour room:) but i had a very short labour...i started around 4am n delivered at 3:54pm..just abt 12 hrs. i too had an epidural n that really did help tons! they cut me b4 anything tore so that was gud..but definitely the recovery time is difficult..at one time i thought i wud never get back any strength..hehehhe.time flies so fast..my baby is already a month old n urs already 3 wks done! sometime back we felt them in our tummy n now they r in our arms..such an amazing thing:) u take care of urself n pass on my love to ur lil one!

You are doing such a fabulous job. I am in the same position as you except my hubby had to go right back to work. But he could meet his hours in four days so he could help me out on the long weekend, and thank goodness! I was delirious the first two weeks. Like you said, thank God I fell in love with him instantly and over and over, otherwise, I wouldn't be able to do it. I'm about to hit week 5 and he is sleeping better and longer now...just not always at the same time every day.Congratulations, again, on doing such a good job and finding time to share your story. I still feel way behind on daily stuff...like even paying bills and trying to keep the house clean is challenging. I look around and my mind races, how am I going to get this done. Then, I see Hudson and think, okay, it's not so bad, it can wait. lol

Hi. Babies are totally amazing...what else would make us get up that often and think it's worth it? Anyway, try to get some sleep and know that it will get better. Take care.

wow... he eats very often!!!! My little one eats every 3-4 hours. So, I consider myself very lucky in that respect. hang in there..... They are such a joy. I am totally in love with Grant too. I just stare at him and marvel. Also, I think, how the heck did that 8 lb baby fit in my belly. It's still truly amazing.
