07-5-2009 - The joys of Motherhood

My mood while writing this blog: quite content

It has been a week and 3 days since Jaxon was born and life has changed dramatically. Time has always seemed to go by slowly while I was working to attain those things I wanted in life. Now that I have my husband and son every second goes by too fast. I never knew I could feel love like this but it was instant and now my life feels so full and complete. I am blessed to have such a wonderful, loving husband and a healthy, thriving baby.

I have been really lucky with nursing, too. It was a challenge the first few days, especially because my milk hadn't come in yet. But he has been a champ! Every two hours at night and between 1-2 hours during the day. I didn't have to suffer through irritated nipples or any other unpleasant effects of breastfeeding. It does hurt a little when he first latches on but not every time, mostly when he is really hungry.

Jaxon has been perfect, so far. He fusses when he is hungry or needs a diaper change but, otherwise, is quiet and content.

The only complaint I have about this whole experience is that I got a bladder infection from having a catheter inserted twice after my epidural and my parts are still really sore. I'm on antibiotics and pain medicine, which helps a bit. I think between being sleep deprived and having raw nerves from being a first time mom, the infection and soreness seems far worse than it actually is. Hopefully about the time his stump falls off I'll be all healed up as well.
