26-1-2009 - Diagnosis: short cervix

So we just found out for sure today that I have a short cervix (less than 2 cm) and was put on bed rest. It is going to be quite a challenge to be on bed rest for almost three months, if we are even lucky enough to go to full term. Right now the doc said my goal is to make it to 28 weeks which is the beginning of next week. Then, 32 weeks and then 36 weeks when they would probably take me off bed rest because I would be about a week away from full term. If you look at it like that, really I will be on bed rest for approx. 9 weeks. That still seems daunting when I am already sore from lying down from the past few hours! Well, wish us luck. I am ready for bed rest if it means my baby boy will have a better chance of survival.

Hey gal, had my 30 week appt, cervix shortened from 1.7cm to 0.7cm, am shit scared....but am confident i will make it to 36 weeks...what were ur measurements like ??

awe sweetie!just try to stay occupied.i wish my doctor would put me on bed rest!lol.im goin to school and workin almost everyday..and last night i just noticed my ankles looked like kankles!lol.soo swollen,and they hurt so bad!
keep me posted on whats going on!hope you're doing great!!you seem to have a great attitude about it!you'll be fine!

Hang in there! Maybe you can take this time to start a book of letters to your baby. Maybe just write a quick one a day while you're on bed rest and give them to him when he is older. Just something to keep your mind off of things being harder than you'd like right now. :) You have a great attitude though!
