06-11-2008 - tachycardia!

My mood while writing this blog:
smothering!

hi ladies!!! as i am writing this i am pretty much smothering to death as my heart races 150bpm! i can't breathe..it feels like someone is sitting on my chest & my airways are all closing off. i am getting so sick of this. i have told my doctor about this over & over & they even sent me to a cardiologist, but so far there has been nothing they can do! they told me i am experiencing tachycardia..which means my heart rate goes WAY too high at random times & it is causing me to smother! (or so it feels) i try to take in deep breaths & nothing helps..it feels as if i can only breathe out of a straw. im getting really pissed off because they have me wearing a heart moniter & my heart rate has gone up to 184 AND YET NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE! what am i supposed to do smother to death?its getting worse EVERY day! i don't think that they are taking this seriously i mean i feel like i am in distress when my heart goes that freakin fast because i can't breathe! the doctors tell me that they would usually give me medicine but since i am pregnant they arent going to..so i am confused..ive still YET to get an answer..is this hurting my little boy? because if i can't breathe i dont see how he can get his breath! i just don't know what to do. i called the doctor again today because i feel like i am about to faint because i don't have enough oxygen & she says, "OH DOCTOR IS OUT TODAY..CALL BACK TOMORROW" i want to scream & cry because all of it is so painful but i know it will just make things worse. no matter how many deep breaths i take i cant seem to get enough air. is anyone else been diagnosed with tachycardia?? if so how is your doctor treating it because i feel like one day i am going to diE!

I cannot believe your dr says there is nothing they can do for you. THere has to be something they can do for you. Have you thought about seeing another dr? HAve you gone to te ER as others suggested? I am so sorry this is happening to you, I wish I knew the answer or anything about it but I dont. I have you in my thoughts and prayers and that is for sure. *hugs*

Not to scare you to death but my mom who is 50 years old was told the samething about 2years ago and has been hospitalized and had a diphibulator put in her chest so I would suggest you go to the ER also just to be sure.

ive been experiencing that a lot lately also! when i lay down at night i wake up gasping for air and when im just sitting sometime i have to stand up cause i feel sitting is cuttin of my air flow or somthing! i feel like im going to die or pass out! i havnt talked to my dr yet but when i do ill let you know what he says! i hope its not the same thing as you and if it is hope i get some good advice for you!

You should go to the labor and delivery or the Er like the other ladies suggested, just to see what else can be done. I hope you feel better.

If you feel short of breath and don't feel like you're getting enough oxygen.... then chances are.... the baby is suffering as well.
You should at least give labor & delivery a call and let them know what's going on.... they'll be able to recommend whether or not you should come in.

I have read articles where the doctor has given the woman propanol, but she and the baby have to be monitored closely. If your doctor continues to ignore the problem i would personally set up an appointment with a different cardiologist because you don't need to suffer that much.
