My mood while writing this blog: anxious |
He called me this morning (he's out of town working till next sunday then he stays home for a bit) he woke up practically in tears I guess because even me getting the c-section has got him worried even though I proably won't feel anything...maybe he was imagining them cutting my stomach open. Since I don't know anything about getting c-sections till the doctor calls me on Monday can anyone tell me whats gonna happen? Like what you feel like, how long is recovery etc?

Saturday, 22 Aug I Have Had 6 C-Sections. You Will Have All The Goodies Done To You While Getting Prepped. The IV, Cathedar, They Even Shave Your Stomach And Hair Below. So It Is Best If You Or Your Husband Can Do It Before You Go Unless You Want Them To. You Also Have To Drink This NASTY Little Cup Which They Say Tastes Like Grape. This Is To Coat Your Lungs Incase You Vomit During The Operation Which I Never Have Done. You Do Get A Spinal Block In Which The Person Who Will Be With You In The OR Will Be Outside When They Give It To You. They Make You Wear A Bonnet And Some Surgical Shoes And Put A Big Blue Drape Across In Front Of You. The Person Of Your Choice That Will Be In The OR With You Will Be Dressed Basically Looking Like A Nurse Or Doctor. They Will Have A Bonnet, Face Mask, Shoe Covers And Either Have Scrubs Or The Surgical Outfit To Go Over Their Clothes. You Will Be Given Oxygen Throughout The Operation. Depending Where You Deliver The Person May Or May Not Have The Option Of Cutting The Cord. I Know My 1st 2 Kids The Father Was Allowed To Cut But All The Ones Since The Father Hasn't Been Able To. Also In Some Hospital The Person In The OR Can See But In Some Hospitals They Can't. With My Last 2 Operations My Husband Sat In A Chair Behind Me Next To The Anesthesiologist. It Is A Pretty Quick Operation In Terms Of Getting The Baby Out. Depending On The Nurses Sometimes They Stabalize The Baby In The OR And Allow The Other Person To Sit And Hold The Baby In The OR Or They Take The Baby Along With The Person In The OR With You To The Nursery Where They Will Bathe And Do All The Necessary Stuff. You Will Be Taken To Recovery Which Is Usually For 2 Hours Where They Will Monitor Your Vitals. Sometimes The Spinal And Meds That They Give You In The OR Will Make You Nauseated And They Will Give You Meds. They Usually Will Bring You The Baby In Recovery And Allow You To Breastfeed. Once You Are Stabalized They Will Move You To A Post-Partum Room. With My Last C-Section 7 Weeks Ago They Removed The Cathedar 6 Hours After I Delivered. In My Previous C-Sections It Was Always The Next Day. I Also Was Up The Same Day I Delivered With My Past 2 C-Sections Where With The Previous Ones It Was The Next Day. With My 1st 2 C-Sections They Told Me That I Couldn't Leave Until I Had A Bowel Movement But That Was 11-12 Years Ago. It Is Very Difficult To Do If Someone Is Always Standing Over You Asking If You Have Gone. For The 1st Few Times You Go Pee You Will Have To Do It In The Hat So They Can Measure. They Usually Remove Your IV The Next Day. They Will Give You A Stool Softner And Also Will Give You Pain Meds Throughout The Day ANd Night. The First Time You Will Be Able To Eat It Will Be Clear Liquid Diet. They Key To Recovering Fast Is Taking Your Meds And Walking. It Will Hurt To Walk But You Need To Do It!! This Will Help You Pass The Gas Built Up From The Operation. After My 1st C-Section And Me Not Walking I Was In So Much Pain And Spent 5 Days In The Hospital. After That C-Section I Knew I Had To Get Up And Walk. With My Last C-Section They Released Me Within 46 Hours. After You Have The C-Section You Will Have Staples And You Usually Get Them Removed Within 3-5 Days And They Place Steri Strips To Give Support. They Will Come Off On Their Own They Say But I Usually Have To Peel Them Off. I Usually Leave Them On 3-4 Weeks Which Is Way Longer Than They Say When They Say They Will Fall Off. Good Luck. You Will Be Just Fine!! I Can't Wait To Hear About Your Birth. mrs.leyva -
Saturday, 22 Aug I loved having a c-section. Very simple for me. I went in the morning they gave me this nasty drink (the amount of a shot of alcohol). Took me into the OR gave me a spinal, laid me down, tied my hands down, and after about 5-10 mins. just as they were making the cut they called my hubby in and sat him down next to me. They then announced they were going to be tugging and I would probably feel some pressure (I didn't), then next thing I knew they told Daddy to look, and then I heard my baby cry. They showed him to me really quick and took him over to the heating table and did all that stuff they needed to do to newborns, and for the next 20 mins. or so they finished me up, gave Daddy the baby to take pictures, and sent me off to recovery. They took my little one to the nursery to finish up what they had to do and Daddy went with him and in about 10 mins. my hubby and newborn joined me in recovery where I began to breast feed him. Since I've had a c-section already I knew I was going to be soar and was going to be in pain, but my doctor told me that I had to walk 12 hours later and to walk about every hour after that, so that I can get proper blood circulation going. Walking as soon and a much as possible was probably the best thing I did because it helped me to recover faster. It was painful at first but I made sure I kept on my pain meds. so that I could be comfortable. When recovery (the next 3 weeks) you have to take it easy! Don't pick up/carry anything heavier than your baby, don't bend down/over, don't reach up, hold a pillow on your tummy to sneeze/cough, and take it easy. Just keep on walking around, but basically don't to anything that doesn't involve your baby. My first c-section I was trying to do a lot and ended up opening my incision a little, nothing major, but I had to go into my OB and she fixed it real quick. She did yell at me to take things easy though. Compared to being in labor for 13 hours like I was with my first I prefer having a c-section instead. Have your doctor explain everything and make sure you have people around for the next 2 weeks to help get some of the major stuff done. masonnickey -
Saturday, 22 Aug I have had 2 Csections. If you get a spinal they will numb you like an epidural. After the Csection they will take you to recovery and monitor you for awhile then to your room. You will be able to usually have one person in the room with you when you are in the Or. I know both times I was allowed to attempt to walk the next day not the same but every hospital is different. Stay on top of your pain meds. They help the recovery go smoother. Also most hospitals won't release you till you go # 2(tmi) if you can't go by yourself they will give you a laxtive(sp). I hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free message me on my page.
