23-2-2009 - Just Have To Get This Off My Mind

My mood while writing this blog: Ok

First and foremost Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, soooo much for all your comments on my bird "Big". He will be dearly missed. I would post a picture in his memory, but my desktop's screen went out and that is the only computer that has his pictures on it. Now I have to wait until I go into town to get it fixed, and to get my other bird "Aiden" a new companion. I don't want him to get sick now because he is by himself. Oh, and does anybody get the reasoning to their names?

Another thing, around a week ago I posted a poll on baby names. The names we have chosen are very old traditional Mexican/Spanish names. Not only that but they are also the names of people who have had a large impact in our lives, grandparents, father, great grandparents. Its like our thing to name our kids like that. Our eldest is Rey Enrique Leyva, Rey after my father and Enrique after my husband's father. And it just so happens Rey Enrique is King Henry in english. And our youngest Jr. after his Daddy. My husband has had the most positive impact on my life and appreciate him for all he has done and gone through.

So back to the name polls. So we have like 4 names for each sex, our little one will have a first and middle name. So we will be using 2 of the 4 names. We just don't know the order or which ones exactly. We do know that we are not going to stray from these names. I also do know that since the names are not of the norm that not many people on here would like them. Sooo, with that being said I decided to go ahead to do the polls to see which names other people think we should use. Only thing was I was worried about getting a very rude woman commenting on the names. Cause I have noticed that some woman on here are truly rude and just don't know how to hold their tongue. So I worded my pool question along these lines:

What name do you think would be best if we had a little girl? Mind you that these are the names of family member who are dear to our heart and we will not stray from them.

1. Paula Rogelia Leyva 2. Paula Sebina Leyva 3. Sebina Paula Leyva 4. Paula Rogelia Sebina Leyva

I then worded it the same and but instead of the word girl substitute boy for the boy's names.

1. Enrique Xavier Leyva 2. Enrique Jesus Leyva 3. Enrique Priscilliano Leyva 4. Enrique Tomas Leyva

I tried to word it so that I wouldn't get any negative feedback. I was hoping that if anyone didn't like the names they would either skip over the poll or just pick the one that souded best. But I was sooooo hoping not to get the comments like the two I got. Only one woman commented on them and after I read her comments I was soo hurt and decided to deleted my polls a.s.a.p. The lady posted a comment for the girls names saying "Those are absolutely horrible! I hate them all!Why would you name your child that?" and for the boys "Again horrible names! If I had to choose I guess Tomas! But not even that one." I couldn't leave the polls on any longer and let the names of our loved ones get so horribly ridiculed by people who were so rude. I personally couldn't withstand such ridicule.

Later she messaged me saying she noticed I deleted the poll and that she was sorry. That she was in a bad mood that day, and that she personally wouldn't pick the names because she wouldn't want her kids to be made fun of. I didn't care. The damage was done and just didn't want to hear from her again. I also truly believe that you can make fun of any name. Kids have one hell of an imagination and can come up with some funny alternative for any name out there.

Some woman on here are just sooo rude and mean, and it surprises me that they don't understand that its not just their world. People on this site come from all over the world and have a lot of different aspect and views on life. That is why I love this site. I get to see how other people live their lives and the way they go about it. It leaves me grateful and appreciative of having this great oppurtunity to talk with such a diverse group of women. I have already learn a lot from the woman I have met and gotten to know on here.

So with that being said, thank you all for being my i-am-pregnant friends. And Thanks for being you. Just kind of go by the rule of Thumper's Mommy and "if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say nothing at all", especially with people you have never known. Or atleast put it in a nicer way.
