17-3-2009 - My Poor Cousin

My mood while writing this blog: Worried and Super Sad

So I hate early phone calls. Why? Cause whenever I get a really early phone call I know that there is something wrong.

Today at 7 am my Mom called me. As soon as I saw her name on my cell phone and looked at the time I knew something was wrong. Well it turns out that one of my closest cousins, Raquel 19 has leukemia. She is also currently 36/37 weeks pregnant. I guess she has been sick for about 2 weeks with what everyone thought was the flu. Then she started to get really bad diarrhea, then came on the bruises all over her body. As soon as those last two symptoms turn up on Sunday my family took her to the hospital. They ran some tests, and Monday afternoon they were informed that she had leukemia. She was told that it is a good thing and bad thing that she is pregnant. Good thing because the baby's cord blood can help with her treatment (if it matches with her). Bad thing cause she has to give birth a.s.a.p. and labor/birth is very dangerous for her right now, especially if she had to get a c-section done.

I finally pulled myself together and called her 30 mins ago but she was going in for an ultrasound to check and see how much the babied weighed.

I just feel soo crappy. 2 years ago I lost an older cousin to leukemia, and now one of my closest cousins has it. It just breaks my heart. I told her I was going to call her around 12:30 to find out more about what is going on with her.

I just....I dunno.....
